There was no shuttle at the airport when we arrived. After a one hour wait we called the hotel and was told to take a cab and we would be reimbursed and we were :-). Upon arrival the Front desk clerks were helpful. Rooms were ok, beds were comfortable but towels and bed lined very worn.

The restaurant staff were on their phones constantly and our cheese fries had NO cheese LOL.

Westland Mall and Walmart are walking distance so shopping was a breeze, which was the only reason for choosing this hotel.

I stayed at the Howard Johnson Hotel for 4 days in December and the service left much to be desired. On arrival in Miami we called the hotel to inquire about the shuttle. The phone rang and rang and no one answered at the front desk. We finally had to call another department which transferred us to the front desk with the same result. After trying for almost 30 minutes we were able to reach the front desk and were told by the person on duty that they were busy so they were not answering the phone. In addition we were told that the shuttle had just returned from the airport and we would have to wait an hour and a half for it to return. We took a taxi to the hotel and mercifully the driver was pleasant. The young lady at the front desk did not appear apologetic and when we asked about a refund of the taxi fare we were told that it could not be done. We did not expect too much from the rooms but the service was quite poor. The person who stood out for me was a guy who worked in the restaurant who was very pleasant and helpful. The rest of the staff should take lessons from him. I am well-traveled and do not need a lot of hand holding and still the service was deficient. Hojo, may not be able to fix up the hotel but they can train the staff to make your stay pleasant.
