I have worked in downtown on and off for over twenty years; my latest stint with different companies (but the same bldg) has been over ten years. What's wrong with downtown? They can't seem to get their act together no matter how much $ is poured in from city, state and federal funds. They spend oodles to rebrand downtown as DWNTWN - yeah, in a city that already suffers from a massive dose of bilingual rudeness and where Spanish is the main lingua franca, let's confuse people further by dumbing down our signage and removing vowels - that always helps. Bums and homeless flood the streets pandhandling day and night, the police are indifferent. The streets are filthy, the majority of the stores look like they belong in a flea market in Lima Peru and the service industry in this tourist town is just disgusting.
