“The Old Miami”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

Yes there are some homeless, yes theres traffic, yes some closed stores, but unless you must be in a Mall, downtown is now full of new restaurants, has an ambiance you wont find any where else in the city. Its like going to New York and not going to China town or SoHo. (Not exactly).

“Traffic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

Anytime you go to Miami it's a nightmare. People don't speak English and you have the united divided nations down there. Going to the AAA arena and the parking is a joke. We visited bayfront park and parked in the garage and that was even over priced-for parking?? Although the view is nice, it's not worth the parking headaches nor the traffic headaches.

“Road Trip Miami to Key West”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Florida
Miami
Accommodations in Miami on the beach
Most vintage hotels slightly smaller rooms
Be prepared to vallee park car per day approx $30 per day no parking at most hotels
Free parking on streets after 6:00pm to 8:00 am
Metered parking approximately $1 per hr
Stated at four points sheraton and best western both in the north beach historic district
So Not many restaurant on beach strip where our hotels are unless you go to other hotels
Beach gorgeous
Tip- bring a small cooler bag fill with ice bring to beach with drinks you can buy At Walgreens from water to beer and mixed drinks
No place on beach to get drinks
vendors charge $10 per chair rental and same for umbrella or cabana

South beach
hotels much more expensive
Took our car and found public parking in a building although bus will take u there
Tons of restaurant and entertainment on Collins
next street over comparable to bay & bloor expensive stores

Lincoln street
took bus $2 per person one way cab about $20
Row upon row of stores on either side of closed street
No cars allowed
With row upon row of restaurants
Very much a European flair
Shops expensive

Key largo
Mostly dive shops seashells and tacky restaurant
Not any upscale restaurants
Lots of selection of fish restaurants
Ride from Miami to key largo and as far as Isamoralsa
Not very scenic
Ate at DiGiordinos Italian restaurant and Mexican place next door Frijoletes

Few resort type hotels stayed Marriott
Nice clean simple limited beach cove area for swimming lots of weeds

Key west was outstanding
We took the shuttle from hotel into the quaint city several times
Our son went diving on the Vandenburg
Tons of restaurants shops and entertainment
We loved the energy the most
At sundown went to the famous Mallory Square with the throngs of thousands to watch the sun set
This is a daily ritual

Next stop Marathon
again not many nice places to stay or eat although we happened to come across one if the most expensive places in town Plaza Grille that had great food but less then helpful waiter
Denis and kids snorkeled

Drove to sawgrass mills for day and overnight
Forgot it was Boxing Day
What a mess could hardly get through the crowds not too much fun
But we shopped a bit

Back in Miami
Took the scenic route from Sawgrass Sunrise area and
Drove through Bal Harbor
Hollywood, Sunny isles
Stopped to take photos of the yatcts in the marina
Best western hotel was fine
Spent most day on beach kids enjoying playing in the big surfs
For dinner went back to Lincoln park
Dinner at italian place called Soto under the stars
Very European feel
