My wife, toddler son and I stayed two nights at the Four Seasons Miami in March 2009. On the same trip, we also stayed at the Doubletree Beachcomber Hotel, which is reviewed separately.
The Good: The rooms, facilities, service and food were everything one would expect from a Four Seasons hotel. The pool area is lovely, the pool staff did a wonderful job of attending to all of our needs, and the water temperature was perfect. A prior reviewer had commented about a window seat running the length of the window in her room that overlooked the bay. We had a similar seat and view, and she was right about it being a fantastic place to pass the time.
The Bad: $34 per night for parking. The hotel is also located in the financial district, where there is not much to see (but then again, the hotel is nice enough that you could easily never want to venture outside the property).
The Unexpected: High-speed internet access was free for people whose high-speed internet service provider at home is AT&T. (Apparently AT&T owns the company that provides the service.)
We like staying at Four Seasons hotels because they offer child-friendly properties, comfortable rooms and fantastic service. They excel at making guests feel as if they are in an oasis of understated luxury. The Four Seasons Miami is no exception. At $295 per night, the Four Seasons Miami also offered good value. Miami hotels are expensive. A mediocre hotel in the South Beach area would cost at least $250 per night, and a hotel of the same caliber as the Four Seasons but in the South Beach area would run well over $500 per night. If you do not want to be by the beach, you can get a lot more hotel for the same price by staying at the Four Seasons Miami.
