I consider myself to be a discriminating consumer, and I found this hotel and the amenities to be exception. I also thought the hotel stay was a great value for what was offered. The room was modern and updated, the bed was ultra comfortable, and the linens were soft. All of the staff bend over backwards to be accommodating and helpful. An additional huge plus of this hotel is that you are away from all of the South Beach craziness and you have complimentary access to one of the best fitness clubs in Miami (the Sports club LA). I also used the Rik Rak in-hotel salon and found their service to be exceptional as well w/ a talented hair stylist and a make up person.
Of course there are a few caveats to this gleaming review that I feel deserve comment.
First, they charge for internet access - a weak connection ($12/day) and a stronger connection )$18/day). I chose the weak connection and it was not strong enough for basic tasks and had to upgrade to the stronger option. I feel that this additional charge for something so critical (internet access/ wifi) in 2012 should be complimentary - it is just a bit tacky to me to charge for this, especially for weak internet strength!
The other caveat is that there are very few casual dining options or any dining options. They have an upscale restaurant (The Edge) and a poolside casual restaurant outside. There is no quick pick up style restaurant w/ coffee as is common in most hotels. I ended up going to the edge to get a $7 coffee (you get the idea). They had a very small boutique type of place near the lobby that had Nutrigrain bars (yuck) and that was about it. There were much better options (cliff bars) in the mini bar in the hotel room (perhaps this was the grand plan to have no other options except for your mini bar so you are forced to pay exorbitant prices for snacks).
All in all, a wonderful stay and I would highly recommend this hotel.
