“Fun and Informative”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

We have been to many animal attractions and I have to say this one is one of the best. I visited the old Parrot Jungle many years ago, and Jungle Island is an updated version.

My favorite part of the attraction is how interactive it is. There were many opportunities to touch animals and feed birds and fish. Be sure to see as many shows as you can as they are very well done.

Some highlights of our day: Posing for photos with large parrots, holding a Capuchin monkey, watching the Orangutans and the Wild Encounter show!

Check around for coupons.

“VIP Tour worth the price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

We vacationed in Miami specifically because we wanted to interact with red ruffed lemurs, and Jungle Island is the only place we could find to do that. This is a much smaller park than large zoos like San Diego but they have some unique animals that you don't often see like tabby tigers, a liger, a trained cassowary and a white lion. To get the most out of your visit, take the time to talk with the keepers when they come out and stand in front of the exhibits. Everyone was full of information. Also pay attention to the animal feedings on the schedule. There were only a handful of people present when the keepers gave the lions and tigers a cooler full of chicken halves, which they ate right up against the glass! We enjoyed the shows, which are similar to shows at other animal parks but again with some animals you rarely see. Buying tickets for the animal interactions takes it to a whole new level. We spent the considerable ticket price for the VIP tour and had an unforgettable experience! We visited the park in the middle of the week, on our own in the morning and with a tour scheduled for the afternoon. We were the only people with guide Ryan Jacobs. His mother is the orangutan keeper so he grew up around different primates and has a wealth of stories to share- that was fantastic. He let us spend extra time with the lemurs since that was our reason for coming to Florida. It was a once in a lifetime experience! Another highlight was a lengthy visit with a baby monkey! We have enjoyed other animal interactions around the country, including at the San Diego Zoo, but this was more personal and involved more time spent with animals. The VIP ticket price also included a free lunch at the cafeteria, whatever you wanted to have. Yes, it was expensive but it was an awesome day, and all those chicken halves for thousands of pounds of big cat do not come cheap.

“4TH of JULY 2013 DISASTER”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

what a mess! Extremely disorganized. Had to wait to be seated. Could not sit where you wanted to. They had assigned seats. Only two buffet stations for over 500 people. AWFUL. Only two interaction with animals. Wanted to take a picture with my daughter and a parrot that was brought to a table by an employee named BRIAN. He did not even give me time for the picture, immediately took the parrot away. But this employee sure gave time to everyone else that came form everywhere to the table. THERE WAS A LINE FORMED AROUND THE TABLE AND EVERYONE COULD WAIT FOR THE PARROT PICTURE AND THEY KEPT HITTING THE BACK OF OUR SEATS. THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE WAS AWFUL. If you can skip this place on JULY 4th.............

Hi Gris0505,
Thank you for visiting Jungle Island during our July 4th Fireworks Bash. We’re sorry to hear that you had an unsatisfactory experience and wanted to take a moment to address your concerns. First off, we’ve forwarded your review to our banquets team and our animal department so they can address the issues you had directly. Additionally, the primary reason for assigned seating was so that large groups would have the opportunity to sit together similar to the way a restaurant seats their guests. Again, we apologize that you had an unsatisfactory experience and we can assure you that we are taking steps to make sure that this does not happen in the future. We encourage you to visit us again in the future.

“A unique place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

My husband and I love animals and we had a lot of fun here. You can feed the parrots from your hands, and the flamingos too. We caught one of the shows and it was pretty neat. A fun day.

“No reason to charge such high admission”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

Had been to the old Parrot Jungle years ago and decided to go this past weekend. The admission is similar to that of a Disney or Universal Studios park. When you enter the park and look at the map, it seems that there is a vast and extensive park ahead. Be careful not to walk while you are reading the map, otherwise you will miss half the park. The exhibits are small, the shows are entertaining, but not worth seeing more than once. The parking system is illogical and over priced, much like the actual park. Recommended for out of town visitors, but if you go once, you would not want to return for a long time afterwards.

Hi there… Thank you for visiting Jungle Island. We wanted to take a moment to address your review. The admission price for Jungle Island is comparable to other attractions in South Florida and is actually much more cost effective than admission to Disney or Universal. While our park is not as expansive as one might think, we do have many amazing shows and attractions to offer. Again, thank you for visiting and for sharing your experience.
