“Miami Herald review was terrible!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2012 via mobile

She/he raved about dishes and only gave 1 1/2 stars! This is the best, most creative comfort food I have ever eaten. Don't be put off but make sure you are ready for some tasty rich food. Yelp had 65 reviews. 64 were 5 stars 1 was 4 stars! .

“Easy to miss - but worth turning around for”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2012

This unassuming little restaurant is hard to spot as you zoom down Biscayne Blvd. It is connected to a motel (one that I doubt I would stay at) and there is a blue neon collar with a fork, knife and spoon on the wall. If you miss it, my suggestion is to turn around and go back.

It is all the things some of its reviewers complained about - really small, kind of loud, hip (but unselfconsously so), and often crowded. Anyway, its really about the food - right? And Blue Collar's dishes up food that is imaginative (without being ridiculous or fussy), delicious, and very fairly priced. Not a huge vegatable fan, Blue Collar's take on a variety of them has won me over. Someday I will save room for the desserts that look mouth-watering - but the entrees are so hearty and delicious, it is hard to do so. BC, you are my new favorite :-)

“Neighborhood place that is several cuts above average”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

Small, diner-like restaurant - but with outstanding food. Hip clientele.

“Sunday Brunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

We decided to try the Sunday Brunch at Blue Collar... Wow! What an awesome place. Great Service and awesome food. It is a very small place and gets crowded quickly. They do have some outdoor seating, but it is uncovered and closed due to rain. I will be back!

“So Sad...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

The atmosphere at night is that of a diner trying to hard to be trendy. The hostess had a pretentious attitude. When the restaurant is full it is very noisy and at night they play loud unpleasant music. I guess they want to pretend they are on South Beach.

To my dismay dinner was truly awful. The caramelized brussel sprouts where not caramelized, the fingerling potatoes tasted days old with a hard cardboard texture. My Mahi Mahi was fresh so I did not starve. I did change the fingerlings for mashed potatoes and they were nice. The cook just did not know how to cook. I could see that the more stewish dishes looked okay. My guess is that the owner had prepared these in advance. I wish he had prepared my fish, caramelized brussel sprouts and fingerling potatoes too!

What made this experience even more discouraging is that I had been there for brunch the week before (when the owner was the cook), and not only was the food yummy but the atmosphere was friendly and fun.

My recommendation is to ONLY eat here for a very expensive brunch on the weekends; skip dinner.
