“Very good for a busness conference, as it is a quieter side of the Miami landscape”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2011

The hotel is not inexpensive, but there are a wide range of eating and dining options within a 10 minute walk from the hotel. The service was attentive but discreet, the meals were interesting. Security was good with room cards needed to access the accomodation floors of the hotel. Wireless hooked up easily. Though the decor was not as interesting as some of the boutique influenced hotels, it was ok. The standard room was adequate in size, with the bathroom a little more generous.

Last july we stayed at the sonesta bayfront for the second time in less than six months. this time, we spent two whole weeks.

it's a great hotel all around.

it's neither fancy pants nor does it dwell on unnecessary luxury, but it's modern with a classic feel to it. very nice and very functional.

we occupied a double room, which was convenient, given that we have two girls, aged 6 and 2, and the amount of space they had to run around and play made our time in the room feel like what it was: vacation.

And the view.

Make sure you ask for a bayfront room. opening the curtains every morning to sail boats moored at the bay and the miami beach skyline in the background was the equivalent of a spa session.

the pool is amazing, too. For us it's very important that it shouldn't be cold, and they manage to keep it at a warm temperature that's still refreshing. The size is just right too.

And again, the view.

The Panorama restaurant by the pool is good, too. I especially recommend the shrimp tempura. Tasty and a bit spicy.

The Sonesta staff also makes a difference. Every one of them was kind and helpful. The guys at the pool are always checking if you need something. The waitrasses at Panorama, always welcoming and nice.

A special word goes to Elizabeth Dubon, the reservations supervisor. She was outstanding. She understood that, with two small children and arriving at 6 am we needed a room to freshen up and she managed to give us one without having to pay for the night before (because check in time is 3 PM). Moreover, our flight back to buenos aires was postponed from 11:50pm to 8:30 am the next morning, and she let us spend the night at a one bedroom suite for a special low price. It's hard to find staff so sympathetic and kind anywhere. She took a lot of stress out of our experience.

We also really like the area. We're steps away from Coco Walk in Coconut Grove, and there are many restaurants around. it's a ten minute drive to Coral Gables and a 15-20 minute drive to South Beach (an area that we really like, but that's not very convenient with two small girls).

One piece of advice, though: don't leave your car at the valet parking. There's a much much cheaper parking lot literally next door, and you don't have to wait for the valet to bring your car over (sometimes, when two or more parties are waiting ahead of you, it can take them up to nearly 10 minutes to bring your car).

All in all, a great place. We will definitely stay there again the next time we go to Miami.

Room Tip: sometimes, you can find super special rates at the hotel's website.

We booked this hotel by chance and we found it gorgeous.our suite was on the 20 floor and Had an amazing sight. The balconies sere enormous and i' d say quite rare in the Us. It's one of the few hotels i' advise for the nice atmosphere and the helpful and full time present staff.

Perfectly located between the bay and downtown Coconut Grove, The Sonesta is a good choice for vacationing families who don't need the beach and don't want to spring for Ritz Carlton rates. It's walking distance to CocoWalk with national chain restaurants like Cheesecake Factory, Chiles, etc. and many other interesting local shops and eateries. The hotel itself is a little more sterile and unadorned versus the typical luxury brand hotel (e.g. Hyatt). The rooms are perfectly adequate and many have convenient kitchenettes, but the modern decor is rather humdrum. Bathrooms are merely functional. The pool and penthouse exercise room are fine but not the least bit extraordinary.

It is remarkable the service of all the staff, from the valet parking until restaurant and room service. Hotel facility is very nice, quite perfect to the environment in Coconut Grove, stylish and the experience of being at the pool early in the morning, very relax, with direct attention for beverages and the view since it is located at the 8th floor it makes this hotel a perfect choice when you are in the moof for enjoying good things of life. The location is also very strategic since it is next to the CocoWalk and you can find whatever you need during the day and better at night.

Room Tip: AA offers good deals for room rates

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. It is 2 blocks from the bay and I had a great view. Everyone on the staff was very helpful and very friendly, not fake friendly like you get at some places. The food at the hotel was great. The beds incredibly comfortable and the whole hotel was very clean. I would go back in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: There is one portion of the hotel that faces apartment/condos, I would ask for a bay view

Perfect oasis near Miami.
Staff is great.
Food is nice.
Pool - very clean - not enough chairs !
Room large, clean, clean and bed is confo. Nice view.
Decor is really nice (original painting) and I forget to ask about the "Wow" smell in the lobby.
