“First Class Hotel away from the "riffraff" of South Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

A few friends and I stayed at the Mandarin Oriental Miami, because we wanted to stay away from the smaller South Beach hotels and crazy crowds. We were not disappointed. When we arrived at the hotel around 1pm, we were a little put off that we werent able to check in early but were told that because the Miami Heat just made the NBA finals, the hotel was completely full. Probably because the media and Spurs were all filing into the city. Also, it just so happens that the Spanish National Football (soccer) team was also staying at the hotel. So...celebrities and athletes galore.
The hotel was very accomodating and suggested we sit by the pool for some food and drinks while we waited for our room. 1st round on the Mandarin, of course. They just a sour situation into a positive and it was a great start to our trip. Drinks are easily $16-$20 each.
The hotel is very clean, modern and the service is excellent. Pool and lounge areas have great views and is not overly crowded. If you just go for the spa alone, it's worth it. They treat you like a million bucks. It's a great place to stay to get away from the typical South Beach scene.

We stayed at Mandarin Oriental Miami for second time and love the hotel. We usually try to pick a hotel which is calm and quiet enough for perfect relaxation. The location is ideal, it's close to Miami Beach but still located in more quiet neighbourhood. The pool isn't the biggest possible but nice anyway. We didn't experience any crowd so we were abe to get sunbeds at any time of the day. The pool bar is very nice and welcoming and serves really good dishes. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and most importantly quiet. I highly recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: Bay view rooms are spacious and have a nice view.

All is very nice and perfect, only thing: no free WIFI and no free Business Center Internet Access. We needed to print our flighttickets and had to pay 6 USD for access and 0.75 per printed page. Bit dissapointing for a hotel on this level. Besides> nice rooms, nice location, friendly.

I stayed at the Mandarin Oriental over 10 years ago on business for a few days and was extremely impressed. Returned last week for vacation and found the same professional approach to guests. From the moment we arrived (from UK) to check in to the moment we left, everything was first class.

Front Desk, Concierge and "Front Door" always happy to assist, with a smile. Pool staff very accommodating, always happy to see you, remember who you are. Same too with restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. very, very happy all round. Well done. We hope to see you again in the not too distant future !!

You pay the money you get what you pay for, this is 5 star from start to finish.
From the time you step through the door you are looked after and pampered and spoilt, the gym is something else, the pool is fab and the service you could not find better.

Room Tip: Get a top floor room the views are great and its quiet

My wife and I stayed at the MO Miami for 3 nights earlier this month. By way of a disclaimer, it was our first get-away together since our first child was born 5 years ago. So we were quite ready for a fun escape. Having honeymooned at the MO in Bangkok about 10 years ago, I decided to return to the brand for what I hoped would be a great experience. I was not disappointed.

The service at this hotel is beyond flawless. Nothing is too much trouble to any of the courteous and welcoming staff. Everyone we interacted with over our 4 day stay remembered us on each subsequent encounter, greeted us warmly and went our of their way to make sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our time at the hotel.

The property was quiet while we were in residence. There weren't any large conventions underway. When we checked in, we were given an upgrade from the category of room we had booked - a perk of the American Express card program we had used to make our booking. When we got to the room, we were disappointed by the small balcony. There was no room to sit out. A quick chat with the front desk and all was resolved graciously and without fuss. We were given a room with enough balcony space for 2 chairs and a table. The rooms are beautifully furnished and the beds supremely comfortable. During our stay, the room was immaculately tended to, twice a day.

We spent much of the first afternoon lazing on a large, round lounger for two on the beach. It's a beach only in so much as it's covered in sand, has beach chairs and umbrellas. You can't go swimming off this 'beach', but that didn't bother us. The beach staff were attentive, brining us cocktails and water as needed. No, the drinks aren't cheap, but heck, you're paying for the all-round experience, and it's worth it. The pool is surprisingly small - it's hard to tell from the website photos. Still, there are plenty of loungers and no shortage of staff to tend to your needs.

All of the dining options are great - from the pool-side snack service to the sushi bar inside one of the other venues. We tried them all and enjoyed each one.

Our only real disappointment was the spa. The treatments themselves were great, but the facility lacks many of the amenities you would associate with a truly top-tier spa. There are no soaking tubs, the relaxation area is small, unimaginative and somewhat clinical. There's no outdoor area associated with the spa, where you could possibly have a light lunch in between treatments. They must be a bit short on space. Were it not for our relative disappointment with the spa, I'd rate this property 5 out of 5. I wouldn't let that stop us returning to this hotel, I would just book a different spa.

Overall, a great property.
