“an informative way to see the beauty of the everglades”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012

friendly informative tour guide with great knowledge of the area, taking you on a 15mile tour of one of the few roads which runs into the everglades, the tour gives a very balanced view of how the population growth of Florida has impacted such a beautiful area. wild life all around you not one bit of it staged would recommend for couples and family's if your looking for a quick insight into the everglades. toilet facility at both ends of the tour road however don't expect luxury...

“A great way to see The Everglades!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2012

The tram tour is a great way to see The Everglades without doing your back or legs in, especially in the midsummer heat.

The guides at the visitor centre were very helpful, advising us on how to deal with stings, and the kids section was fun, with some skeletons and gator skins to feel and see.

The guides were enthusiastic and extremely cute together (they were a married couple - retired schoolteachers) and taught us ignorant Brits a lot about this beautiful part of the planet.

The midpoint stop was great - the tower was beautiful and offered exceptional views. We did the small train by the tower and came face-to-face with a huge alligator - scary!

We didn't see many other gators - there were more opportunities on the airboat tour (go to Buffalo Tiger's - awesome) - but it was a great way to take in the scenery in a relaxed setting. Recommended if you don't want to bike/walk.

“Tram Tours”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2012

We have taken a two-hour guided tram tour ($19.00 per adults). The loop is about 15 miles long. In the middle of the tour tram stops (after 8 mi) and you can take walk to the observations tower, look around, and take pictures. The park is a vast, open savannah. There are a few types of birds, snakes, alligators. We saw alligators in close distance. The two-hour trip was a bit boring and too long. Don’t forget take a lot of water with you.

“Wonderful intro to Everglades National Park”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2012

You'll see tons of gators along with a variety of birds and learn about the unique eco system from a park ranger. Recommend you sit on the left side (driver side) of the tram because after the stop at the observation tower all of the wildlife is on that side.

“May is the Wrong Time of Year to Visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2012

Overall a positive experience. Priced about right at $19 per adult. Apparently dry season (OCT-APR) is the time of year to visit. We did see a few small alligators in the water and some birds. The observation tower walk at the mid-point of the tour was worthwhile. The tower is a lonely, almost haunting sentinel. First half of the ride is a meandering road built around 1960, with culverts designed to allow water to flow under. The second half is a road built by an oil company in the 1940s that is nearly perfectly straight. I found the history fascinating and learned alot about the Everglades outside the boundaries of the national park.

We had taken an airboat ride immediately before coming to this. I did not find the experiences redundant. The topography of the two are different. Only wished we could have seen more wildlife.
