“Good place to stay near Coconut Grove”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2010

Hotel is a short walk / drive to Coconut Grove...not in the center of the action but close enough. Berries restaurant just around the corner is excellent, though not much else is in the immediate area.

Free parking is a big plus, though the on-site lot and garage filled up each night I was there. The front desk will suggest other options if you ask. Free wireless was reliable and also a big plus.

The staff was happy to change my room to be away from the elevator and ice machine, and was helpful and friendly all around. Clean, comfortable, and spacious room with an excellent bed. Quiet too...no apparent outside noise even though the hotel was mostly full.

We were in Miami for the Orange Bowl and stayed at this hotel. The location is good for restaurants and night life, but the room was small and the beds (2 doubles) slanted to the middle. The comforters were lumpy; too many washings and the fiberfill did not stay in place. The room did not have a microwave nor mini-fridge. Breakfast was a bit above the usual continental served at Hampton Inn. I would not stay here again.

Choosed to stay 3 nights at the Hampton Inn for the end of the year based on the TA'sreview and the price. It was unbeatable. Has free breakfast (quite busy), free parking (also covered garage) and free in-room wifi access.

Room was quiet on 6th floor. King size bed, flat TV, desk and chair, refrigerator, no bath but shower only.
Staff was helpful and nice. Pool at the back and fitness room also available. Just a few minutes away from CocoWalk for restaurants and shops by car. From Downtown Miami and South Beach it's more 20 to 30 minutes by car depending on traffic.
1 day, they didn't service our room as hotel was full and we've just asked for fresh towels.
Will surely come back there.

This is a good place to stay. Not perfect but good. Rooms very well maintained. Has SELF PARKING which virtually no hotel in south beach does. Stay here and pay 1/3 of the south beach prices. Breakfast basic but good. Staff pretty friendly. The downsides are it is not close to much to walk to so you need to get in your car and drive, but again, for the money savings I didn't mind. The parking lot is a little cramped but no big deal. I recommend this place.

This is my second stay at this Hampton Inn and it was a great experience. It's a very, very nice Hampton Inn. The rooms are very quiet, I never heard our neighbors. The facility is very modern and they are actually renovating it currently. Also, the staff is friendly. The bed and pillows were not very comfortable, both my wife and I had trouble getting comfortable on the bed. The air conditioner works very well to keep the room cool (which is very important in Miami!), but it's also quite loud.

The hotel's 24-hour fitness center has a descent treadmill and a fairly good cross-trainer/elliptical machine, but it is otherwise not very good (I'm big time into fitness, so my standards are very high). The fitness center has no free weights and a few machines (which I didn't use). The floor leaves very little room for someone to stretch, do abs, etc. The entire room is only big enough for about 3 people to be in at the same time (although, as small as it is, I felt a little awkward with one other person in the room). There is only one TV and no headphones, so try to get there early so you will have it to yourself.

The desirability of the location will depend on your goals. The hotel is about one block off US Highway 1 (a/k/a "Useless 1"), which has very bad traffic just about constantly. We had an appointment in Coconut Grove, so this hotel was perfect for us. Also, we love the Miami Zoo and this location is fairly close to the zoo as far as distance (but, again, you have to deal with US-1 traffic). If you're heading to the beaches, Hallandale, Sunny Isles, etc., then this location might not be the best for you.

Finally, this location has free self-parking! That's very nice in Miami, especially if you're used to staying at the beaches. The area seems fairly safe, but I wouldn't leave valuables in the car or be out too late at night/early in the morning.

Nothing special about this hote at all. The location is absolutey terrible...I can't belive someone would build a hotel behind a gas station/shopping area with nothing else around it. We couldn't walk anywhere except Shell. The staff was attentive, but we always had to ask for everything first. Nothing was offered up to us...no anticipation of our needs or interest. If you are looking for a very cheap weekend hotel, this is your hotel...especially if you are only sleeping there. It was clean but not for us. I guess we are use to 4 or 5 star hotels.

We had read horrible reviews about other hotels in the area. This was the ONLY one that had consistently good reviews. We chose this hotel because of the reviews and the distance to my daughter's apartment (coral gables), her school (UMiami) and points of interest. LOVED IT! Even with the good reviews, we were a little apprehensive but no need. The place is immaculate, including the pool and hot tub area. Above and under ground parking (accessed by key) is well-lit. The hot breakfast, while not the greatest, was included. One morning it was scrambled eggs and sausage gravy & biscuit, the next morning it was french toast and sausage. If you didn't wish to partake of the hot food, there was cereal, yogurt, fruit, bagels, muffins, toast. Bed was very comfortable. I told my daughter to recommend this hotel to other family/friends that may come to visit.
