The units are spacious with lots of amenities (full kitchen, washer/dryer, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, balcony). I think we had an updated unit (granite counter tops although the appliances were white not stainless as in some units) but the furnishings already seem a little worse for wear.
*friendly desk staff (we had an early flight into Miami and they allowed an earlier check in)
*free parking (so many places in the Miami charge for parking)
*washer/dryer in kitchen area
*excellent HVAC - too often air conditioning units are noisy or ineffective with cooling. The HVAC in the units is more like residential vs. the wall units in the standard hotel room.
*huge shower in the master bath
*very responsive to my concerns (when the guest manager called to check on our stay, she asked if we had any issues) about the cleanliness of the unit.
*although small for a "resort", the outdoor areas are beautiful and seem well-maintained. The pool area is very nice with lots of comfortable seating under cabanas. There are stainless steel gas grills in 2-3 locations for guest use.
*lots of restaurants close by
*wi-fi was non-existent in our unit. We tried accessing the wi-fi on our iphones, ipad, laptop and Macbook. Nothing would connect. We had a hot spot with us but that's a pain to use and expensive. This is probably the #1 factor on our decision to stay at this facility again. Having reliable internet service (which is advertised) is critical.
*housekeeping not great. They may do an ok job of the quick cleans but overall the unit really needed a deep clean.
--the carpet was dirty and stained. I was shocked when jumping into the shower to see how filthy the water was near my feet. I hadn't walked anywhere without shoes on except for inside the unit. I've never had that happen, ever, in a hotel. Yuk.
--lots of ants in the kitchen. I realize it's southern Florida but I've never seen this many ants appear in a kitchen.
--the main bathroom had powder, etc. on the tops/edges of drawers and cabinets. While the counter may have been wiped down after each guest, anything below the counter hadn't been touched.
--soap scum on the shower walls/door. I think the housekeepers focus on eye level and never bother to clean the ENTIRE glass wall.
--As mentioned above, the furniture has seen better days - lots of nicks, scratches, etc.
*Definitely in the flight path to the Miami airport so lots of noise. It didn't really bother us inside but could be quite noisy on the balcony or at the pool.
--unattended kids/large groups. There is no maximum number of people in a unit. On our last night, a very large group checked into a unit in the adjacent building. The large group appeared to be mostly young kids with a couple of adults and teenagers. Since the pool closes at 11 p.m., these kids (no apparent supervision) were out running around the game areas until fairly late. In the morning, they took over the pool area. 12+ kids with little/no supervision doesn't make for a great experience for others trying to enjoy the pool area.
With regards to the housekeeping issue, when the guest manager called to check on our stay and I brought up these concerns, she was very concerned and offered to have a deeper cleaning done. However, given our plans and schedule (work conference calls, etc.) on our last day, we really couldn't plan around a several-hour process so we declined.
