“Very well run, cleanly kept, new hotel.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2011

The service was impeccable and the hotel was incredibly clean. The location is very safe and nice, just not particularly residential. It is in the middle of every bank in the world's corporate offices. Not really a problem, especially if you have a car. We had a lovely balcony room with a bit of a Biscayne Bay view. The tv that was in the mirror in the bathroom was over the top ... but i'm sure some people love it!

My wife and I stayed at this hotel over the recent President's day weekend. Our first choice would have been to stay on Miami Beach, but we were using Marriott reward points and were not able to redeem them at a waterfront property. The downtown location would be better suited for business travelers than leisure travelers. It was in the heart of downtown and there were several good restaurants within walking distance. It is a $25 cab ride to the closest beach in South Beach on the 600 block of Ocean Drive (beach was awesome). The hotel pool is on a 7th floor roof deck and only gets sun for limited hours during the day because of surrounding high rises. Rooms are in need of an update; they look a little tired. I see no difference between this "JW Marriott" and other "Marriott" hotels I have stayed at in the past. Ask for a #-02 room... they are end units that have two exterior walls with the 3rd wall being a stairwell... very quiet, no noise from neighbors. Also, the spa at the Viceroy down the street is a MUST!

This was my first trip to Miami, and I am very glad I chose this hotel. The room was lively, with panoramic views. Everything was spotless and comfortable. There are multiple restaurants on site, but they are a little pricey, as is the room service. The location was just what I was looking for downtown. I would definitely stay again.

This hotel was wonderful. I love the beds, they were so comfy. The fitness center was great as well as the front desk. Contrary to other reviews the valet staff was fine. They are very efficient and our car was always ready when we called down for it. The front desk gave us a list of restuarants in the area. The pool was nice and the hot tub was hot. We always find that the hotel hot tubs are not heated properly but this one was great. They only drawback was that the sun did not hit the pool until noon. I would stay here again!

First of all, this is a very nice hotel. Clean, new, well-maintained, nice furnishings and fixtures. The fitness center was small-ish but well-equipped and perfectly serviceable assuming not more than 6 people are working out. The bed is heaven, so comfortable! Things I wish I knew before I went: they provide a very lousy, travel-sized hair dryer, you know, the type that takes 45 minutes to dry your hair. Valet parking at $29 a day is expensive, slow, inefficient and rude. The downtown Miami location is quiet for the weekend. The Starbucks I was so excited to go to downstairs was closed on the weekend, however a cute French bakery across the street had tasty coffee. This is clearly a business hotel. That said, with a car you are very close to anywhere you want to be, only about 1 mile south of the America Airlines Arena area. There are also nice views of Key Biscayne.

My friends and i went to miami for new years, we wanted to be near miami beach, and away from the south beach traffic. We stayed at this hotel, and the service was wonderful. The staff showed such hospitality, and the rooms were so comfortable, and clean. I would go back in a second!

My wife and I went there and other than the staff receiving cars that are not too friendly, the lady at the checkin was very friendly and recommended a great Argentinian restaurant walking distance that we thoroughly enjoyed. We had a great suite that truly was worth it. We liked the fact that when we entered the room, they had put beautiful soft music for us. The closet needs a bit of styling, but we also enjoyed watching the tv integrated inside the mirror...quite original. They also had a computer in our room which was a nice plus, unfortunately the bellboy was going to send someone up that never showed up even though we followed up on the phone, so we switched it off since we really werent going to use it but for a couple of minutes. These are nice extras for rooms.
