“Great hotel in downtown Miami”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2012

Stayed at this hotel for 1 night after returning from a cruise. The hotel was very quiet as it was MLK Day and it is located in an area which people probably stay primarily for business. We were able to check in early and because of status (and probably because they appeared pretty empty) were upgraded to a two room suite with a balcony. The room was great with two large tv's, a bose sound system and an espresso maker. All rooms come with an in-room computer which is nice to have even when most people now probably travel with their laptops. We had lunch in the (casual) hotel restaurant and the food was great. The concierge lounge was also well stocked for breakfast and evening stacks. The one downside to the hotel is that there are a bunch of highrise office buildings and apartments that block the sun from reaching the pool for a few hours each day. I also cannot speak well for the price as I used a Marriott certificate but I believe I received very good value for it.

I´ve been travelling to Florida for decades but never stayed on this side of the city before. In this case I needed to be close to the banks and commercial area but it turned out to be the best choice made in years. As in every Marriott Hotel, the service was superb, receptionists very polite and helpful, concierge treated us as VIP guests, even when we were not, hotel room was perfect and comfortable. The only downfall would be the internet service which was very slow and there was no wireless service in the room. There was a road construction nearby which interferes with the valet parking access. Closeness to the many bistros and restaurants made this stay well worth repeating.

I don't like rating a Marriott property this low. But the overall package of normal services was sad. The room was appointed nicely, even with a computer. Unfortunately the internet speed to the provided computer was almost as slow as the wireless was to my laptop. Always had a "poor" connection in room 1510. The bathroom was beautiful including a glass door and wall for the tub which is unusual. Unfortunately the glass door would not stay closed so I had to deal with a puddle of water from the shower to avoid slipping - each morning. The wireless was included in the room rate - thank you, but connected at 5 - 10megabyts per second is pitiful.

The CFO conference was in their banquet rooms. Never saw a hotel where bathrooms were so remotely located to banqeut rooms. Only hot lunch was beautifully presented but on room temperature plates and was luke warm. Dessert was in hall but not informed of that during lunch. no beverage service at all.

Biggest disappointment was that a neti pot (used to clear out sinuses) was removed from my room - probalby by accident. I called the operator on early evening of day two; afternoon of day three, evening of night three and talked to a manager on departure morning. No one took ownership or called back. I had to continue to ask and ask. Final manager made restitution.

Finally, it is disgraceful that free wifi is in a conference lobby but not in the banquet rooms. That level of service is either poor or greedy. That is for each person to decide. I unfortunately don't speak spanish, but all waitstaff, housekeepers & hostesses spoke spanish to each other instead of english. Just felt funny that I didn't know what they were talking about with each other next to me - yet in the U.S. - just a little thing...

Definitely a pretty place and nice areas to walk to around the hotel. But not likely to return.

Room Tip: Check wifi connectivity immediately at check-in - relocate if you have a poor connection - IF this i...

The road construction in front of the hotel makes getting into valet parking a little tricky. The concierge and bell staff were exceptionally helpful, especially about nearby restaurant tips. Restaurants in the hotel were average and pricey, so we ate out in nearby restaurants more often which were very good. The room was just average - a little tired and thin walls.

when i called the hotel around 3am to cancel my reservation fredericka and the stupid phone operator didnt know what to do. they both were clueless. being an associate with marriott by there demaeanor and attitude over the phone and of the refusal to help me i would of got fired. they insisted of transfering me to reservations when they authorized my credit card in december of 2011 for a reservation for may of 2012. i think this is unreal and should be able to get my money back. i think that this is sufficent time to cancel without any penalty because they have enough time to sell the room. this hotel being that it is a full service with upscale guests they need to have upscale service and attend to every need. there is something called going over and beyond of excellence which you dont have at this property. i know that associates get a room for a discount but that shouldnt change the service that marriott expects everyone to preform.

This is an excellent hotel in downtown Miami. The rooms are large and have huge new flat panel TVs. Service is excellent. The only problem is that there is not much to do around the hotel. With the exception of Brickell village there are no shops or restaurants. However, the metro station is only two blocks away which brings you to most places in the Miami area. It is great for running along the Bay if you are into running. You could run all the way to Key Biscayne if you want.

Room Tip: It is best to ask for a room facing the bay since there is less traffic noise.
