“even the low price is still too high”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014

Only positive thing is the relatively low price..... but even that is still too high for what you get. are simply dirty, the floor looks like it has never been cleaned, and the walls around the windows were peeling from mold and moisture. Breakfast was a joke. If not every dollar counts, avoid going there. To be fair, there was one very friendly ant attentive staff member. This Hotel needs a complete makeover.

By all accounts (in every way) this hotel has FAILED and should be shut down. On first appearance, one may be impressed by the lobby's appearance. This is NOT the case! The rooms are horrible, they have terrible mattresses, they smell of mold, a non-smoking room clearly smelled like smoke and the cleanliness is nonexistent! We NEVER took our shoes off the entire night. We didn't use the stained comforter. There are no toiletries to speak of and to make matters worse their service is the WORST I've EVER experienced (and we have travelled the world)! We were given a room that was occupied and walked in on an unsuspecting guest that just checked in. The desk takes a picture of your license and credit card (which will NOT be given back upon check out)! This was a HUGE concern and the hotel manager got involved and was the most ignorant, unaccommodating person I've ever met. Do yourself a favor and do NOT spend your hard earned money on this dump! It's NOT worth the savings they offer...whatsoever!!!

Room Tip: Restaurant is closed and no others are available on-site. A LOT of homeless people live directly be...

You get what you pay for with this property. To make matters worst, sometimes you do not get what you pay for. The rooms are dusty and worn out. The air vents look like they have not been cleaned in decades. Rooms are spacious but not comfortable. The bed was hard. The comforter had steins on it. The service was non existent. Every single employee we came in contact with seemed unhappy and apathetic, bothered by the simplest request. Pretty much, they made us feel they did not want our business. Also, the hotel charges for parking and the valet service is expensive and poor. They only have one attendant available. It takes about 20 minutes to get the car.
They also charged extra for local phone calls to Orlando that were used with a pre-paid phone card. This hotel has potential, but until they update to the 21st century and add hospitality back into their business, they will continue to lose customers.

This hotel should be shutdown. they don't even compete on price, there are similar no so expensive options with better quality some blocks near by. Let start with no hot water at nights according to a paper post in the elevator, but eitherway no hot water at all, no wifi in the rooms and veeeeery slow wifi in the lobby, nonflat TV ( didn't know this still exist)' no cable, breakfast forget it. Mold , old and dusty rooms, old mattress, pillows, what pillows? Maybe two squared old cushions. In general hotel is old and rusty, price was $62 extreeeeemly cheap for Miami. I had booked 6 days on this hotel, ran way after one night, coulnd't sleep on the old mattress. Change to another close by at $74 with full amenities, modern, brand new, excellent condition and across Bayside mall. Please avoid booking this , if with family even worst, there are far more options in downtown Miami and Miami Beach that would make a more pleasant stay in Miami.

I can't believe the negative reviews of this hotel. Where are you going to find ANYTHING for $80 in a major urban area? My room was over 500 square feet! It had a kitchen, comfortable bed, and a wonderful view. The breakfast was nothing fancy and the front desk was pleasant but a little understaffed. The pool is small. The metro mover is right outside the door and the neighborhood has good food and shopping. Check out the reclining Buddha in the inner lobby.

You can't beat less than $80/night in downtown Miami. My conference was at the Inter Continental with a conference rate of $179/night. Here are the pros and cons of the River Park:

Pros: rooms were clean; property is an easy walk to the free people mover with easy access throughout downtown; restaurants were close and inexpensive

Cons: no room service; morning coffee but otherwise no real continental breakfast; no in-room internet; property is both gaudy and in areas run down;

In summary traveling alone on a tight budget for a short stay, it was fine. If you are bringing family or staying for more than a few days, I might look elsewhere...
