“You Get What You Pay For”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2014

You can't beat less than $80/night in downtown Miami. My conference was at the Inter Continental with a conference rate of $179/night. Here are the pros and cons of the River Park:

Pros: rooms were clean; property is an easy walk to the free people mover with easy access throughout downtown; restaurants were close and inexpensive

Cons: no room service; morning coffee but otherwise no real continental breakfast; no in-room internet; property is both gaudy and in areas run down;

In summary traveling alone on a tight budget for a short stay, it was fine. If you are bringing family or staying for more than a few days, I might look elsewhere...

Pros: Relatively close (driving distance) to Bayside/Bayfront Park, Biscayne Blvd., the People Mover and I-95.

Cons: Everything else. Read the reviews! Elevators. Decor. Scary. Dark. Dangerous at night. No food around if you don't have a car. $20/night Valet they don't advise you of. TV and remote are old and don't work well. Mold/mildew. Yellowed toilet (it's supposed to be white). Water pressure. Carpets, bedding and curtains stink.

Don't be fooled by the updated lobby it's the only nice part. The entire hotel is in desperate need of major renovation. The hotel use to be nice decades ago. The elevators are scary and sound as if they will fall apart. The room hasn't been updates in 30 years and the beds must have been brought from Guantanamo bay. Worst bed I have ever slept in.

I would suggest a motel 6 or days inn if you want a good nights rest. Also you have to use the valet parking and it's 20 per day you won't be told until you get there

Basic hotel, in need of modernisation. Very poor service from front desk on two counts
1. I had just arrived and had no American currency with me. The lady at the front desk refused to put $2 on my credit card and give me cash... Forgot to tell me that there was an ATM at the hotel - and told me the only place I could get a drink would be to walk (alone and in the dark) three block to a store. it is not really the sort of area for a single woman to be walking around alone at night - so bare that I. Mind if you are a solo traveller

Travelling alone - T.V in the Room in quite important - this T.V broke the front desk lied to me and told me that the hotel was completely full and refused to change rooms for me - or to provide another television.

Breakfast was very basic - The toasters are faulty and need to be replaced.

You are forced to pay $2 per day for a safe whether you use it or not. This is not clear at the time of booking.

this hotel was a bit too old, it was well located, staff was ok, can not comment any more on it, but i felt a bit scary on the floors, too dark, the bed was big, and the bathroom was old and scary. best thing was the location.

We wanted to stay in Downtown : the location is convenient as there are subway and bus stations not too far. The price are a little bit expensive for the service provided. Close to Brickell area for restaurants and bars.

I was never told that i had to make a $100.00 deposit when i get there, i asked if all my money would be refunded the answer was yes, to my surprise the next morning at check out i was told that they have to take $2.00 for safe deposit, i did not need a safe, breakfast was horrible the toaster does not work properly and by the way what is wrong with the pool ?before i got to Florida i called to ask for information on how to get to the hotel useless no one knew what kind pf business is this ? I would never recommend this place to anyone
