“Unpleasant surprise.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

My husband and myself are in our late 60's and in pretty good health. Have stayed at Extended Stay's in different parts of the country with no issues whatsoever--until now. Booked this on Priceline and stayed there after our cruise before going home to the Midwest. Driven by taxi so obviously had no car. This place has no restaurant, bar, cups paper towels-zip. We had to walk about 2 miles to a grocery store--and then the return trip carrying bags. If you have a vehicle-its ok-nothing great. Would never stay here again.

Room Tip: Just don't stay here if you do not have access to a vehicle.

an excellent clean property, with full kitchen, wonderful helpful staff. This hotel is great for long stays in this city, the grab and go breakfast is an excellent idea.

Business travelers' would love this resort.

Friendly staff and clean accommodations. BUT...no transport to and from airport, unlike most of the other airport hotels who offer shuttle service. Also, this hotel is in the middle of nowhere...20 minute walk to restaurants and stores. And no ice. And very basic "breakfast."

I stayed at this hotel booked through priceline and I took it because it promised free parking, free breakfast and free internet. The parking and internet were free but the breakfast consisted of muffins, oatmeal packets and coffee at the front desk. I wouldn't exactly call that a free breakfast. The room itself was very basic and we had no choice of single or double beds. The front desk clerk said it was a queen bed but it looked more like a full size bed. The internet worked well and the TV had proper cable channels although there was a limited selection. There was no daily maid service either which is fine because we weren't in the room a whole lot. For the price and star rating (2 star hotel) I guess it was OK but I wish they didn't claim to have free breakfast because it was not entirely true.
There isn't a whole lot closeby but we ate in little Havana which is only 2-3 miles away and got our cuban food fix. If you want to be close to downtown then don't stay here.

I have stayed at other Extended Stay Hotels and this was a disappointment.NO ice machine.Had to go buy ice.No hair dryer. No milk for breakfast.Hard bed.Very noisy room by the road.Clerk knew nothing about the area.Said he never heard about Carrababas. There was one down the street.Did'nt know anything about Homestead Miami Speedway or how far away it was.If you are going to work at a hotel you should know these things. Think I will stay at other hotels from now on.Nicest ES was in Kennesaw GA.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the road.

I really enjoyed my stay. The room was very clean and cozy. I enjoyed watching the planes take off from my hotel room overlooking the water. The Front desk was friendly. I visited on October 17-19, 2014.

Plus: Location near airport, free WiFi & parking, full size refrigerator + range top + microwave, good neighborhood, air conditioner can cool to the max, grocery + liquor stores nearby, friendly staff, value OK

Minus:

“Grab and Go” breakfast means grab your wallet and go eat breakfast somewhere else.

Brilliant red stains in major traffic area of carpet.

Musty smell because water condensed by the air conditioner spills inside onto the carpet.

There is a Spartan but sufficient set of dishes but no dish soap.

The bed has embossed guest left and guest right positions.

The towels double as sandpaper but are great if you like to exfoliate.

The fiberglass tub/shower insert is dangerous. Standing for a shower was akin to balancing on a surfboard in still water. I almost lost it when I closed my eyes as I washed my hair. It took a while to figure out but here is the situation. There is water UNDER the tub floor so you must balance. If you bounce in the tub you can hear the water beneath slosh. The tub doesn’t drain well at all – where do you think the water under the tub comes from? How disgusting do you suppose that water is and how much is sucked into the undrained water in which you stand?

It is not that big a deal to fix these things; I do not understand why it has not been done.

Room Tip: Don't take 218!
