I'm writing this review having just completed our second visit to this location on December 1, 2013. I will say that OVERALL, we were satisfied on both this visit as the last one. But I will agree with some of the other reviews that for the price you pay to stay here, the attention to detail could be a higher. While our room on both stays weren't what I'd call dirty, as I said before they could use a little more attention to the details. For example, our suite in this latest trip had things like the area around the hot tub not looking like it's been cleaned well in a while as there was mold in the corners from standing water. Many of the exterior windows were almost opaque from lack of cleaning. However, we've not seen some of the things I saw in some of the photos attached to other reviews. Lucky perhaps? It seems many thing here are hit an miss, as with room experiences. Service for example ... while most of our experiences while at the hotel were good, making our reservations for this last trip was a nightmare; and I attribute that to one person on the reservations staff. I called to make a change to my reservation only to be put on hold. After holding literally for 45 minutes (I looked at the timer on the phone) I hung up and called back only to be told the reservations desk was closed. So essentially I was put on hold and they left me there. I sent a letter to the management, and they assured me the staff in question would be dealt with. Were they? I will never know. But it left a very bad taste in my mouth for this place. I can say I have a feeling we were silently compensated by being given a larger room than what we paid for as the suite we had this visit was at least double the size of the room we had last time, and they were the same class of suite. Both were reserved as "executive" suites, and while on the last trip we were on the 4th floor in the middle of the row, this trip we were in a top floor corner suite which you had to walk down a hallway (after entering the room) to access the large suite. It was huge. I do have a couple other pet peeves in that you literally can't do anything by yourself. Perhaps the people who frequent a hotel like this are used to being pampered at every level, but I should be able to walk down the hall to get some ice if I so choose to. Here you can't, and have to call the front desk for them to deliver ice to you making me feel awkward wondering if I need to tip the guy every time I get ice. Then there's not really a fridge in the room. There is a mini fridge, but every square inch is filled with honor system liquor of every flavor. We end up removing a million bottles to be able to put the requested ice in there so it will last a little longer. Lastly as others have stated, the hotel does seem to be going through a large renovation right now. While I know things like this needs to happen, I would think you would be notified of this during the reservation process. We were lucky in that our suite was on the opposite side of the building from the renovations, so they didn't bother us at all. To sum up, it is a very nice hotel, but it does have it's rough spots. Will we visit again in the future, probably ... but admittedly I will be a little leery will it be another good experience that time around.
Ask about status of construction. Corner suites seem much larger.
