I feel that a bulleted list would best sum up my experience, so here is a list of some of the problems that I had with my stay:
+ The "non-smoking" rooms had a very distinct smoking odor to them. Upon viewing other rooms, they were just as bad, except that they smelled of must and mildew.
+ The front desk staff was not very friendly (unless of course you pulled up in a Porsche, which I did not). They continuously looked past me (and other guests) to help the guests who appeared to be "high-rollers." It is my belief that all guests deserve the same amount of respect, regardless of what they drive up in.
+ The front desk attendant (Jose) took a very sarcastic and condescending tone with me when I made a simple hotel request. I was under the impression that if you work in the customer service or hospitality industry, that you try to make people feel welcomed, not try to belittle them. Even the other guests in the lobby looked at me with stunned expressions as if to say, "Did he (Jose) really just say that to you?"
+ I called about a handicap-accessible room when I was booking. The front desk told me that yes, they do have accessible rooms. I asked if I would be able to get one with a double-bed. Again, the front desk assured me that I could. When I arrived to check-in however, they looked at me like I was crazy. They said they had "accessible rooms" OR "double-bed rooms", but not both. They told me in a snarky manner that I would have to purchase a roll-away bed for an additional $30/night in order to get a handicap accessible with "double beds".
+ We were told that the pool bar was closed because it looked like it was going to rain, even though it never did. Rather than serving the 40 people who were at the pool, the bartender just stood behind the bar with his arms crossed telling guests that he couldn't serve them. There were even groups of people who were coming up to the rooftop specifically for drinks and he just kept turning them away. At one point, my family member asked if he could bring his own soda up from his room since the bartender was refusing to serve people. The bartender told my family member that he was not allowed to bring outside beverages onto the pool deck, even though there were at least 9 other guests who had their personal bottles with them around the pool. My family member then went down to grab a snack from his room and upon returning to the pool deck, the bartender called security on him. My family member was simply trying to sit pool-side and enjoy a beverage or a snack, which for some reason the hotel was refusing to sell that afternoon (in spite of there not being a drop of rain). He did absolutely nothing to warrant security being called.
+ Also, the Mayfair Hotel likes to overcharge for items. I was charged for valeting a car I don't even possess. The hotel tried to charge me for an extra night as well. I guess this is how they make their money since they refuse to serve drinks at the pool bar.
The one bright spot of my trip was the manager of the Spartico restaurant, Ramon. He was extremely personable, bent over backwards for me and my family and would even stop to make "small-talk" with you in the hall. I actually started to go to him for my hotel questions and concerns as it was MUCH easier to talk to him, than to the front desk.
If the other staff members could take a "common courtesy" lesson from Ramon, I think the hotel would be much better off.
I would advise looking elsewhere for your stay. There are plenty of other hotels nearby and there's no way that you could have any worse of an experience.

Dear Kyle N,

It is unfortunate that a group of people would conspired to use such an useful website like TripAdvisor to defamed a property that welcomed you and your party to celebrate a special occasion, unfortunately due to issues with the budget couldn't get everything that you wanted.
We aim to pleased and make sure that all of our guest are satisfied when they arrived and leave our property, unfortunately when someone blackmails the hotel with threats of posting negative reviews if their demands are not met, it is our view that we will not wilt under such terms because we believe that decent people will not submit themselves to such, in this case however it seems our faith in people failed.
The only thing we hope for is that you and all of your family were able to enjoy each other during the time that you were in our property for such a great occasion as a wedding usually is.
