Description: Our dining room dining room falls somewhere between red-velvet regal and Slum Dog casual, with white table linens, fresh roses and vinyl-coated menus. There's gentle, tinkling music, authentic if slightly wooze-inducing incense and, for better weather, a petite patio. Our menu is centered mostly on the northern half of the country but includes fiery Goan specialties and henna-red vindaloo. Our knowledgeable, welcoming and sincere staff makes ordering easy for novices. Meals begin with a complimentary stack of crisp pappadom with thimbles of thick-cut onion chutney and a green-as-fresh-cut-grass coriander version for dipping. A side order of mixed chutneys yields store-bought but no less delicious sour mango pickle and sweet mango chutney. Come visit our lovely, value-priced dreamy addition to Coconut Grove!

“Simply delicious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

First of all, the restaurant is in Coconut Grove-- not Coral Gables as the listing appears on Trip Advisor. Secondly, don't go on a weekend night without a reservation...unless you are happy to wait. Make the reservation, or go during the week. Yes, it's crowded, but that's because it is delicious. We had samosas, nan bread, lamb roganjosh, and tandori chicken tikka, plus mango chutney. Superb. We kept exclaiming, my gosh, this is amazing! Plus, my picky 8 year old gobbled down her food. The ingredients were good quality and the flavors clean and distinct, not muddied. One reviewer called this a "hole in the wall." Not sure that's right. Compared to a lot of Indian restaurants in NYC on 6th St, this is a calm, nicely if modestly decorated place. It's certainly not a dive! Great, helpful service. Yes, tables are close together (not as close as in a French cafe, but still, pretty close.) They also have outside seating. If you want excellent Indian food in a casual, pleasant setting, go! Week nights are a much better bet for a little more space and less hustle and bustle.

“Good food, cramped space”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

Food was good and well cooked. We had to wait 20 mins to be seated as it was crowded but the quality of food made up for it. These guys seriously need more space, they had more people cramped in the area than there was any space for. Servers had to literally squeeze through and we had to constantly move my son's high chair to make way.
A bit expensive but then thats ok to pay for good quality. The street has a uber-village feel to it.

“Superb meal!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

We tried Bombay Darbar this past Friday night, and we didn't have a reservation, so undestandably we waited for about 35 minutes for a table inside. I'm so glad we waited! What an incredible meal!

The atmosphere totally reminded me of a traditional Indian restaurant that you would find in London; it was fairly casual, but had a romantic and exotic feel about it.

Regrettably, I don't think we ordered enough, considering how delicious it was, and the fact that the dishes were served in very unique (but smallish) traditional ramekins. We tried the chicken tikka masala (spicy) and the lamb pasanda (medium) with garlic naan. The curries were so beautifully prepared, and just the perfect amount of spice in each. (I personally love the spiciest food available, and they can deliver, if you are so inclined.) We also had a lovely California Pinot Noir that was incredibly well-priced.

I should add that I am not typically the biggest fan of Indian food, although I love Thai food and many other ethnic cuisines. Honestly, even writing this review now, my mouth is watering!! I wish I could eat there for dinner again tonight, but unfortunately, I'm home now in Los Angeles....

The service was friendly and efficient - we were very well cared-for. This is probably not a great place to go if you want to linger over your meal and not be bothered, as the service is fairly fast (at least around 9pm on a Friday night), but it's not the kind of place one should choose for an intimate drawn-out affair anyway. It was, however, very romantic and charming in its own right, and the food was to-die....

“Fantastic Indian!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

This is a fantastic little hole-in-the-wall in Miami's Coconut Grove.
The cons: small and cramped.
The pros: fantastic food, very fresh and truly delicious. Reasonably priced.
Some of the best Indian I've had in Miami. If you like spicy, order "Indian Spicy" because just spicy is spicy by American standards and it's really not that spicy.

Had the Dhaal Soup and, Crab Samosa it's awesome. Then followed with the Lamb Roganjosh, delicious and flavorful very aromatic. Awesome garlic Naan too!

We loved it and will be back!!!
