Visited Lummus Park Beach on a recent trip to Miami. It's beautiful, white sand and blue water. Surprisingly enough i found the sand in the water better than the sand on the beach. A great place to catch som rays on a sunny day.
....and just lay on your back and look up. That view - that one right there - with the blue sky, green palm fronds and sunlit sky - THAT is South Florida. Enjoy.
Was great a long time ago. Now a tourist area and not a place I want to be. It is a beautiful beach and area, but definately a tourist hang out.
Loved the park and paved beach walk. A great place to get into the water, sun bathe, or walk. Showers outside to rinse off your feet. Good grassy and tree lined areas to stop and rest. Also, you can rent bicycles right at the park areas. The sand here is the grainy, gritty kind, not nice white, soft sand.
You'll probably find it hard to park if you are going by car. there are some turisric restaurants nearby. you'd better find somewhere else to have lunch. Anyway, the park and the beach worths a half-day stay.
