“Great Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

We rented a 24' outboard skiff for a day on the Bay from American WaterSports (next to Monty's in Coconut Grove): it was all good. The staff are knowledgeable, experienced and helpful. Boat and equipment all first rate. Navigating with onboard GPS was easy. Going back to Miami in March and will do it again. Great family experience, kids loved it.

“Excellent Company, Staff, Great Pricing!! Highly Recommend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

First time renting a boat in Miami. We rented the 22", and it was more then enough for my wife and myself. Their prices end up being even more competitive then a deal that we had purchased on Group-on. Staff was great, provided you with everything, and you're off to the sea. Definitely recommend checking them out when you are down in Miami. I will be back again for sure. Cheers!

“That thing to do in Miami”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

This was the best 4 hours of our rental. Renting a boat is that thing that you need to do while in Miami. You don't really get a feel for how beautiful Miami is until you see it from the water. This was our first time renting a boat, and you have to leave a security deposit, so we were extremely nervous. The staff really boosted our confidence though. Their instructions along with the GPS that came in the boat make it overly simple. They cover a map of the area and give you a suggested route, then cover instructions on the boat, and send you on your way. We spent 2 hours cruising the city (downtown, the port, miami beach, star island, fisher island, key biscayne), then went to the sandbar for about 2 hours for lunch and swimming. My family hasn't stopped talking about this ride. Do yourself a favor and see Miami from the water.

“Extra charges”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2012

We rented a 24', very nice boat. We checked the boat before heading out, were told to be carefull in shallow waters, needless to say we have had our own boats and know how to handle engines and propellors. When we brought the boat back they checked everything in a very rude manner, and we where charged $400 for having shined the propellor because we went through shallow waters which they also claim gets sand into the engine and they have to call a mechanic to service the propellor and clean out the sand, well sorry to tell you that anyways you, american watersports, has to service and maintain your boats, it is very easy and convenient to charge clients for it, when you rent a cat they do not charge for wearing out the tires.... Very very dissapointed at how you treat your clients and will never recommend you to anybody

Nataly, it's unfortunate that we had to charge your group for hitting the bottom. Being boaters you know the kinds of problems that can be caused by doing so. Aside from the physical damage, sand is sucked through the cooling system and can cause diminished flow, overheating, and/or breakdowns. When a customer hits the bottom and gets sand in the cooling system we have a flushing service done to help ensure the engine is cooling properly. (If you need a little more explanation Google "sand in outboard cooling system" and you will see some more in depth explanations.) Long story short, the engine needs flushed, we pay mechanics to do a thorough job.

I happened to be on the dock that day, I did not see my staff act rude toward your group in any way. You guys were insisting, in a very argumentative manor, that you did not hit the bottom. He pointed out on the GPS where you went through shallows and you continued to argue with him. All he did was stand firm on our policies, that were made very clear before you went out and signed specifically acknowledging that if you hit the bottom you would be charged $400.

I have included the before and after video that clearly shows the prop in perfect condition with light surface rust from the salt water . That day your group kept insisting that you did not hit the bottom, thank you for finally admitting so in your review.
