“Nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

Lovely large room and bathroom. Loved the swimming pool although its in the shade for a lot of the day so you have to pick the right time. The spa is very underwhelming and I doubt if they do that much business. I didn't think that any of the restaurants were that great and the Met Cafe/Bar food was very average for a supposedly 5 star hotel. DB Bistro is the fine dining restaurant within the hotel, but it was also somewhat disappointing for the price and I definitely would not go back and the bench seats attached to the wall are just so uncomfortable due to the height of the table. The breakfast served in ThreeFortyFive is fine but not a great selection from the buffet.

This hotel is in downtown Miami and there really is not much to do in the evenings.

My husband and I stayed here Aug. 14-16 and loved everything about the hotel. Everything about the room, the view, the comfort, was first class. We were greeted by name and any requests we made were taken care of immediately. The room was spacious, the coffee maker was a high quality. The free wi fi and bottled water added to the ambiance. Loved the contemporary furnishings and the large TV. Also enjoyed having the 2nd television in the bathroom. The people at the front desk were very helpful as was Ricky who brought our luggage to the room. We'll be back here again.

Here is the best parts of our stay with the JW:
Comfortable bed, really nice furniture, nice business desk and media center within the room.
Bathroom - was truly an plus, with television in the vanity, and the bath tub was comfortable and curvy (contouring to ones back), and the lighting within the bathroom was spot on
Many of the service members were just simply wonderful to deal with on many levels and the location was really good for venturing out around town.
The elevator - One can not tell if the thing is moving or standing still, and it gets you up and down really fast. We loved it!
The Pool - Was warm and beautiful with a shimmering bottom that was awesome.
The exercise room was Awesome, with complementary ear phones for private listening.

The worst parts of our stay:

Valet(s) - not doing their job, i.e. opening all the doors for us to exit or enter - having a non-service oriented attitude or even caring about consistency or any thought of Brand Management as being the first and last impression customers have of the JW (inconsistent).

Breakfast - The food was not good, cooked to perfection, or even close to what we paid for it $60 plus dollars including the gratuity. Some items were fresh, while others were not (inconsistent).

Shower - The shower has one major flaw in that one will be standing in a puddle of water the entire bathing time, as the floor is not bevelled or angled to drain dirty water away from the user.
Finally - We would really like to have given the JW a much better rating... very good or even excellent, but with the inconsistencies that loom within, we felt justified with leaving an average rating.

I stayed at the JW Marriott Marquis Miami last year on a business trip. It was wonderful! All of the details, the service, the food, the accommodations - even the coffee maker in the room was amazing! The staff and service was incredible; always attentive to any needs that I had (not that I had any - this hotel pretty much provided everything standard). The location, the views, the beds, everything was top notch! I wouldn't stay anywhere else while in Miami.

I stayed twice at this hotel for work, once in Feb and once in June, and the rooms are excellent, location great, service very good, and the views beautiful. The second time I was there I spent a week and was upgraded to a corner room in the Beaux Arts floors on top--beautiful room and terrific views. The pool is also great, though the health club had some broken machines. I look forward to returning there.

From the time we checked in we were treated with respect. The people were very kind and willing to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The valet Paul was very helpful in giving us information on were to eat and places to see while in Miami. The front desk personal words cannot explain on how great the service was. I will recommend this hotel to anyone that goes to Miami.

Room Tip: Beautiful views from the rooms

We stayed here for 2 days before a cruise leaving out of Miami...hence my title! It was just one of those places you just want to get for a week & just relax. The view of the bay from the room was beautiful! & there were a good bit of restaurants within walking distance. We just weren't there long enough.
