“Very, Very Nice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2011

We stayed at the JW Marriott Marquis at the end of October. We were very impressed. We had a corner room on, I think the 31st floor, perhaps 3105. We also had access to the Conceirge Level which I belive was on the 36th floor. The room was the size of a small suite with expansive views of the Biscayne Bay Key and City Scapes. It had a 50+ inch flat screen hdtv and a PC in the room. I am in the market for a new office desk and chair, and wish I could get my hands on the ones they offer in this hotel. They were smart, efficient, and beautiful. The bathrooms are over the top, with marble and thick glass, from head to toe and separate shower and bath tub; and with two marble sinks and embeded HDTV in the mirror--just absolutely beautiful. Conceirge level was first class. The nicest (Marriott) conceirge I have seen in some time. there was a vast assortment of foods / beverages available, and it was plentiful (I have been in conceirge rooms where it's a mad dash to get the small amount of food as it's put out...but, not here). The gentleman who managed the conceirge room during my stay was very courteous, and professional. He had the demeanor of a professional butler. I mean this in the most complementary manner. Everything from the neatness of his uniform to the manner in which he interacted with the guests was really first class. I'm sorry I can't remember his name. I must say that there did not seem to be any liquour available, although I would guess it was available upon request. Parking at this hotel is about $35/day. But, the whole affair is really first class all the way. This is a brand new property, and it shows. The hotel has not had much use. Everything feels fresh and new--just as I like it!

Recently stayed at this hotel for work. It was a great location if you need to be in downtown Miami. The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and willing to help with any questions about local restaurants, etc. The gym at this hotel is great, it has a nice view and a lot of equipment, more than any standard hotel. The bar and restaurant are also nice. Honestly, I can't think of one thing to complain about with this hotel.

I stayed ta this hote for 5 nights for my conference. I have to sya this hotel is very luxurious with many great ammenities. The TV was large with a lot of channels. A water proof Tv in the bathroom was great add.

The bets thing about this hotel was the view. It had a great view of the Bay.

The hotel is very spacious with modern furnitures.

the bed was extremely comfy.

I think this hotel is really 5 star.

I am a fequent traveler, and this is probably one of the best hotels I've been to.

One negative thing about the hotel is the lobby. I think lobby looks very plain and has no characteristics. Oh, the location of the hotel is poor. It is in the city center, so a lot of wierd people walking around!!

Large room with beautiful view on the bay. TV in the room and in the bathroom, desk with internet monitor, free fast wifi, comfortable beds, friendly staff at the reception.
Location: close to downtown, but still quite some distance to Miami beach (around 20-40 minutes by taxi depending on the traffic).

Beautiful hotel, sumptuous decor, a cool spot to hang out in Miami. Also recommend Prime112 for an excellent steak/seafood dinner. Not cheap but will impress.

High floor overlooking the bay was incredible, I had a junior suite 3402, which I almost got lost in! Massive bathroom, comfortable beds, separate lounge and separate study area - all incredible.

Taxi drivers get a little confused about where it is, but frankly most Miami taxi drivers don't know how to drive either! The hotel is one year old, actually the day I stayed there was their anniversary. It is across the road from the Epic hotel but requires you to be in the correct lane as you approach from I95. The trick is to look out for 255 Biscayne Blvd WAY.

Will always stay here when in downtown Miami ...... Which I hope is very often!!!

Beautiful views, top notch rooms, bathroom with TV in mirror, desk with internet monitor. Elevators are only less than 5 rings - some troubles they need to figure out there.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2011

I unexpectedly had to stay a weekend in Miami after a week of business. There is a plethera of good hotels to choose from and I decided to treat myself for a couple of days. I considered the obvious: Four Seasons, Mandarin, etc. But I decided this was one of only two JW properties that carries the Marquis designation and I knew is was less than a year old, so I figured it would be there to impress. It was.

It is at the southern end of downtown Miami, across the street from the Knight Center, Miami Tower, and easy walking distance to Bayside and walkable to the northern end of Brickell Ave. It could not be more central. It is attached to the new Wells Fargo tower. Both buildings are all glass and marble.

The lobby is elegant, but simple. All marble and wood. Reception and check in were simple, quick and efficient. You begin to notice the technology when you are required to get your room key close to a sensor in the elevator to go up. The process is the same for the room door - get the key close, but no swipe or insertion.

The room was beautiful. On the east side of the building, on the 34th floor, I had a view of the bay, port and many other buildings. Floor to ceiling glass provided the view. There is a large flat panel tv - I would guess 50 inch on the wall. The desk had a built in computer with internet access and wi-fi was free and blazing fast.

The bathroom was all marble, had two sinks, a tub and shower and plenty of other treats, including a second tv in the bathroom mirror that is visible from the shower and tub (But not throne). The mini bar was well stocked and surprisingly affordable ($4 soft drinks, $5-6 beers, etc).

I ordered room service both nights I was there. They arrived in 15-20 minutes with a pleasant employee. A burger and two beers ran $32 all in - frankly less than I thought it would be. And it was well prepared.

I looked at the exercise and entertainment facilities that take up two entire floors. The weight / exercise room is as good as some cutting edge gyms. It is the best hotel gym I have ever seen. There is also a spa, which I believe has some cost. Additionally there is a pool on 19th floor, a full court indoor basketball court, a virtual bowling ally, billiards, and a golf school, yes inside.

I did not try the restaurants. The ground floor French restaurant looked nice, but frankly was above the price point my company would pay. Again, it looked nice though. The hotel bar is on the second floor, which is a bit afar from the lobby. I usually like to have a drink and people watch, but the location is not good for that. Also on the second floor is a nice lobby with fireplace to sit.

It was raining one day I was there and the tv lost its signal for quite some time. They use Direct TV. I understand the satellite needs the signal, but it seemed to struggle much more than mine does at home.

In summary, it was a real treat to stay here. I would go back - but my budget dictates that it be only for special occassions. Well done, Marriott.

Room Tip: Facing East and high floor had stunning views of the Port and bay.
