“A small hotel that can compete with the big ones... All the way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

Sometime life brings us surprises that we really didn’t expect and this is exactly what happened to me and my husband in April when we were going for a cruise. Our first plan was to go to Miami the night before our departure for a cruise in the Southern Caribbean, rent a room near the Port of Miami so we would be there in time for our cruise and wouldn’t have to worry too much… But that was not counting on Mother Nature who decided to send us the last snowstorm of the year and which completely changed our plans. Naturally, we couldn’t cancel the cruise, so we had to make sure we arrived before the storm hit Montreal, on Friday April 12. The Hotel we wanted to reserve was not available anymore, so I found another one… well I can honestly say that I discovered a little gem. Hotel Urbano (www.hotelurbanomiami.com). This hotel greets you with a butler that can either act as a valet to park your car or will take your luggage and bring them to your room. The gentlemen at reception will greet you with a smile, and will very quickly give you your key for your room. In the elevator they change the carpet 3 times a day, wishing you a “good morning”, “good afternoon” or “good evening”. The room is just exquisite and the bed is better then a cloud (I’m sure)! Bathroom is modern and spacious with all the necessary amenities. The backyard just invites you to unwind completely with 2 cabanas (with flat screen t.v.) and a sealing fan. The pool is also very inviting. There are tables at which you can order your food… and on that subject, I can honestly say that the cook for this hotel is more a “Chef” then a “cook”. Their french-fries are just to die for! This is a small hotel (65 rooms) that can definitively compete with the bigger hotels. It is very near to Key Biscayne Park… you can walk to it and go to the beach or you can take the little tram, which is free and has a stop right in front of the door and go downtown Miami to shop or walk around… This is truly an amazing place. The only down point would be the breakfast... VERY good... but quite expensive, especially that the coffee is not included and they charge 4$ for it!!! But that is not enough for us not to go back... The other very important service we discovered was a taxi driver… Carlos (Espinoza)… he was appointed to us by the Taxi dispatcher at the Miami airport. Not only was he very nice and drove well, but he took us around the hotel we were staying at, so we could see what was there. He’s the one who told us about the Key Biscayne, and all that at no extra charges! He also told us that if we needed him to come and pick us up on Saturday, to go to the Port, he would be pleased to do so. From past experience we know that often they say that, but when we actually call them… they never show up… Well guess what? He was there!!! In advance!!! So for all you who need a ride in Miami, here is his contact info: Carlos Espinoza 786-587-7612… And enjoy your stay in Miami while waiting to get to your cruise!

A girlfriend and I stayed here for one night on our way down to Key West. I did extensive searching for a hotel and found that hotels in South Beach were incredibly expensive and had horrible reviews online. We decided on Hotel Urbano (not in South Beach, but in the financial district) because of the great reviews and I found a deal through the hotel's Facebook page. We were really just looking for a place to spend the night before driving down to Key West so I can't really comment about the area and the proximity to tourist sights, but this was a really lovely hotel. The staff was friendly when we checked in, the room was clean and modern, and the beds so comfortable! It was quiet too. The bathroom was spacious and clean. Our balcony overlooked the beautiful pool and courtyard and I wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy it. The hotel looks like it has been renovated and kept up very well and has fun artwork that really gives it a Miami-vibe. I would definitely stay here again.

Great little weekend getaway spot away from tourist-riden South Beach. Really cool art adorned the walls of the hotel. Overall excellent experience and really enjoyed my time at the pool. The staff was helpful and provided fantastic dining recommendations. I'll for sure be back!

My husband and I stayed 1 night at the Urbanno Hotel before our cruise. We found the man on reception very abrupt and not the friendliest. Our room which was advertised as city view was ground floor and faced a 10' fence...no view.... but room was clean and spacious We thought its only 1 night so it'll do! The pool area was lovely and not busy but every time we went to the bar for a drink the barperson was never there and at one time I waited about 4 minutes for a drink. Was not overly impressed with the food....especially breakfast. We sat down, had to ask for menus, they forgot butter for the toast, had to ask for tea, bacon and eggs very greasy and when we asked for the bill, she brought the folder without the bill. Explained she had been out late the night before. There was no problem getting a taxi next morning. Don't think I would use again.

We apprecaite you taking the time to review your recent stay with us - while it sounds like you didnt have a perfect expereince this time, I assure you this is not typical of the service we provide at Hotel Urbano. We are glad you were able to enjoy our lovely pool area, however! We hope you traveled safely -

This hotel is unassuming from the street – but once you’re inside it’s so cool! Tons of really interesting artwork in the lobby area and hallway – breakfast was awesome and our favorite part was the cute little cabana/waterfall area in the back by the pool. Great location too. I'll be back soon.

This place was recommended to me by a friend but I was not impressed and found it in between a high-end motel and a standard hotel. The hotel is a 15-20 minute walk to the central part of Brickell where most business and life activities take place, and getting a taxi is difficult. This place is probably better suited if you are not needing a business hotel, but a leisure hotel. Despite the friendly staff, I was not impressed with the Hotel Urbano.

We appreciate your review and opinion and are sorry that you were "not impressed" with our hotel but we are hapy to hear you found our staff friendly and professional. Perhaps on your next visit you can take advantage of the free trolley service that stops directly in front of the hotel to get to the center of Brickell. We hope you traveled safely and will be able to visit again soon.

A fantastic stay at Hotel Urbano!

From online reservations all the way through check out the staff at Hotel Urbano showed that business can still be conducted with a smile. The room was clean, comfortable, and luxurious as it exceeded all expectations. In my many visits to the area this is by far the best hotel for the money that I have stayed at. Our room had an amazing balcony overlooking the pool, yet was quiet at night making for an ideal stay for couples, families, and friends alike. I cant wait to return!

-Boston

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool had an awesome balcony and view!
