People who actually live in Miami rarely go to Bayside. It's nice, pretty and inviting if you are a tourist, it's worth a visit for the view. However, There are some restaurants that are ok (not really that great) with different cuisines. Shops are small, have limited selection and the price is 30%+ what you will pay at a local shopping center. Also, if you have to park, many times it's a fight to get a spot and it is expensive to park.
Most locals liked the old Bayfront Park that was there before with the charter fishing boats, the Japanese Gardens, Large Main Library used to be there, lots of trees and pidgeons to feed, it was not commercial at all then.. Now it's how do we suck the money out of the tourist. Again, it's ok to see for a morning or afternoon, that's it.
