“Not that great...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2015

I passed by on saturday and I was definitely expecting much more. I was at least expecting something A LOT nicer! I didn't even want to let my girlfriend out of the car. It is not in the best of neighborhoods that I didn't want to park my car.

“Great Selection”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2015

A little hard to find if you don't know your way around, but was very pleased we went. It has some booths that sell other things, but the real gem is the vegetable and fruits they offer. All kinds of selection, some I have rarely seen, and lots of specialty items. Also have some pre-made items that were very high quality.

“Nice fresh stuff with come good prepared foods too!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2014

Big selection. Even though it is expensive, the stuff lasts longer and is organic. Compare that to an item from the grocery store that goes sale just before it is about to collapse. I swear the spinach lasts twice as long as store bought. You also get the old Grove vibe there with lots of funky people selling healthy produce, etc. There are also some unusual items you do not see around Miami.

amidst the conch houses and post war (II) apartments that line the west coconut grove there's an empty lot just down the street from the DOMINO park (where there is NO GAMBLING). the lot Sunday thru Friday.......just a few cars parked, and some neighborhood types designing new plays for the HEAT. But Saturday from around 10 to around 4 the FARMERS MARKET comes alive. The lot becomes a veritable canvass of color and texture and size and shape as the mainly organic fare becomes the attraction for knowledgeable shoppers from three counties.
Even in the insufferable heat of South Florida in August the entertainment provided by the fruits and veggies is well worth the trip. You will think you landed in the middle of Florida's Redlands breadbasket, and in actuality, you have.
If it is in season they've got it and got PLENTY of it. Just ask. Packages of nuts, and curries, and berries, dried herbs and spices and all manner of island seasoning take up an entire aisle. Boxes and boxes of potatoes, fennel, cabbages, lettuce, mixed greens...
six types of mangos drew the preponderance of attention. Tomatoes, onions, beans, corn and summer fare like kale and collard/mustard greens, and bread fruits tropical summer fruits papya, carambola, star fruits....it's practically overwhelming.
Ringing the vegetable and fruit "infield" are plentiful booths offerering all manner of healthy/organic/vegan fare (no gluten cupcakes were the big hit on this day)...smoothies, empanadas, jamaican jerk everything, a few clothing booths and several environmental concerns give the entire area quite a festive atmosphere. The Actual market has prepared foods clearly marked and is highlighted by some spectacular cakes and pies with toppings from papaya to mame.
A check out line moves quickly and efficiently as each item is checked and packed
The price is right: free.
Parking along Grand Avenue or on the side streets is plentiful.
A totally relaxing, entertaining, informative, and healthy activity for once a week, once a month or just plain a quickie.....typically South Florida version of the great American Farmer Market concept.
