“Best Mexican in North Miami Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013 via mobile

Excellent Oaxacate soup and guacamole. Great margaritas and Tacos al Pastor are almost as good as in Merida, MX where the owner and cook are from. Queso Fundido would be better with real chopped Chorizo rather than ground but all in all a great reasonably priced neighborhood gem.

I always recommend this restaurant to friends and family. The service, atmosphere and food is top tier. Definitely deserves Miami's #1 spot for best restaurant.

“Wow, sabor!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

We happened upon Cheen Huaye today on our way from the Ancient Spanish Monastery to the Dezer Collection, and we are so glad we did! Our 8-year-old had been asking for Mexican food for a few days, and Cheen Huaye delivered above and beyond our expectations. We each had a bowl of soup (sopa de lima for me, consome de pollo for them), each of which was hot, full of flavor and really hit the spot.

They have a variety of reasonably-priced lunch specials, which included the most delicious refried beans we've ever tasted. I had the tacos al pastor, my husband had tacos whose name I sadly can't remember (but they came with pickled onions), and our daughter had the flautas. Everything was delicious and fresh-tasting. Service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere in the restaurant is very pleasant and feels upscale without being stuffy. We wish we had a place like this at home!

“Mexican cuisine well done”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

This pleasant, recently enlarged and informal restaurant can be overlooked because it is in a small strip mall, but don’t pass it by. The menu contains the expected Mexican dishes, plus many specialties from the Yucatan. Don’t expect the trite serape and sombrero décor, but do expect excellent cuisine. All of our dishes were carefully prepared, tasty, served hot and promptly. Cheen-Huaye is distinguished not only by its good food, but also by its very warm and attentive service. We have received similar friendly service by both the proprietor, Magna Vieira, whose husband is the executive chef, as well as her staff. We get to Aventura several times a year and try to eat at Cheen-Huaye each visit.

“A little gem!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

Our property manager, Juan, who works for AYP Inc. in Miami gave us the name of this little restaurant, the first night of our stay and he did not disappoint our Mexican food loving family. We couldn't pronounce the name but we did give it a big thumbs up! The food authentic southern Mexico food was delicious! The jalepeno margaritas were just ok but the quality food made up to that. We would definitely go back!
