“Very Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2011

Contrary to other reviews, we loved it here. We went as a family of seven and spent half the day there. It may not be the primary attraction if you only have a day in Miami, but otherwise it is definitely worth the trip, great way to spend a calm afternoon.

“Don't Waste Your Time”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2008

Brought to the US by William Randolph Hearst, this fragment of a medieval monastery is nothing to get excited about. You can see more interesting architecture of more recent vintage in the US, but if you want to see European religious buildings, why not go to Europe? This place is a dump -- a junky introductory "museum" exhibits a few artifacts in desperate need of professional conservation (it's painful to see historical objects and a manuscript neglected in this way), a garden, a cloister, and a small chapel. The "self-guided" tour consists of a cheap and confusing photocopy of poorly-written desciptions of the monastery. That's it. It's not worth $10 -- in fact, it's a bad idea to give $10 to an institution that takes such poor care of its artifacts. The website, if you can believe it, is more professional than the real thing. Save your time and money and skip this sad excuse for a tourist trap.
