“Some Things Are Free”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012

Rodeway Inn/Airport Miami is located between the Miami Airport and the Miami Port (downtown). The address is 1050 NW 14th St. - Miami, Florida 33136. This is where the free part comes in. This very "budget" motel offers free airport pick and AND free transfers to the Miami Port. That is a savings of $25 (a high end hotel charged me $25 for the port transfer in September in the same general area).

One side of the motel is street side to a medical complex the other side is "directly" next to a busy freeway. The motel is very worn (walk across the carpet and your feet will be black). But, if you can sleep with the freeway noise, the constant ambulance sirens and don't mind a very basic motel without any "perks" ( take your blow dryer) - the price is right for just an ovenight stay, especially if you are catching a cruise ship the next day. Being a senior, lone traveler, I did not go out after dark except to the vending machine.

Another big plus to this motel is the "Greek" restaurant on site. The music is too loud, and it looks a bit "iffy" but don't go by the looks. The main seating is open air but covered; there are a few inside tables. The menu has a good variety, most choices are under ten dollars and the food is plentiful and very tasty. Nearby local medical staff hang out here during happy hour time, and can be a bit rowdy, but the pluses outweight the minuses.

Room Tip: Third floor, street side.

This was the nastiest, filtiest room I have ever seen. There were cockroaches everywhere and the bathroom looked like it had never been cleaned. The mamger said they were under new management and in the process of renovating. After being moved to one of the "newly renovated" rooms the only difference was new carprt. The room was still filthy and I saw cockroaches. It would be bet to avoid this place. It gives the franchise a bad name.

Although the price is right, the roaches are not. The carpets are dirty, the hallways uninviting and it does not do any justice to the clean hospitals at the University of Miami complex. The breakfast is insulting so little you want to throw it back at them...probably just to keep you in the retaurant to buy a real breakfast. The owner of the hotel has absolutely no shame and quickly tells you to speak to his staff. The only nice thing about the place is the friendly staff and the people in the restaurant. I feel sorry for the hotel staff as they have to spend time apologizing for all the problems.

Room Tip: Find another place even if it costs more.

This is long overdue for a major remodel. At least 20 years overdue. The walls are paper thin. It is by a busy and noisy highway. It you want a hotel to sleep at....good luck. You will need it here. They advertise a free airport shuttle. What they don't tell you is it only runs certain hours. If you have an early or late flight you are on your own. It has been at least 20 years since I stayed in a hotel this bad. No heat in rooms.

Room Tip: Choose another hotel.

Oh my gosh i had the unfortunate experience to book this online.
the roaches were competing for space and the carpet, better wear shoes while inside, like it's never been cleaned.
They should rename this inn "ROACHWAY INN"
I would not suggest this place to my worst enemy.
Health inspectors of Miami please please please visit this place.

Stayed here on a lay over from the DR. Only one night thank goodness. Booked it as it came up as Airport hotel with free shuttle. The shuttle was the only good thing. The Rodeway Inn is also renting out the rooms as furnished apartments and the whole bottom floor rooms are now some sort of buisness from hairdresser to realter. The room was old and badly needed updating. Yet the room had a new flat screen tv. The color of the bedding and furniture looked like it was taken from a Quality Inn which is in the same family chain. Our two bed room was on the 5th floor facing the freeway. The beds appeared to be on the floor with no frames. The noise all night from the road was loud and only just drained out by the AC. The freeway side is the even numbers the back side is the ODD. If you do stay here try the odd but then again they may be the apartments they are renting. The location of this motel is great being right on University of Miami Hospital property and down the road from the Marlins Stadium. The bar/restaurant down stairs seems to be the only thing close, but it was great food was fantastic and the service was excellent. Back at the motel we needed a shuttle which starts at 6am. we were told to come down about 10 minutes early. We get to the lobby and its all locked up and dark with a sign saying "leave keys here" It was kinda cold at 5.50am. Driver arrived at 610am... There are closer hotels to the airport. But this is the cheapest at about $59 with free shuttle.

Room Tip: Odd side of property

THE GOOD: The pool seemed pretty clean however it was small. There is a restaurant at the front of the hotel which had great food.

THE BAD: We stayed here the night before our cruise left from the Port at Miami. The photos that were on the website were a complete opposite depiction that what we experienced.

We had a large group so we had three rooms. One room had the wall paper peeling off the wall and was clearly moist. The second room had carpet that was rippled causing a safety hazard for those who weren't as able bodied to walk. Our room had a visible film in the shower and no shower head. All three rooms had a smell that was not desirable. The walkways of the rooms are not patrolled or monitored at all. At 3:00 a.m. one of my family members seen what was assumed to be a hooker walking the walkways. Either that or she was doing the walk of shame from whatever room she came from. For sure not a family friendly place.

The location is also not desirable. The front of the hotel boarders a hospital so you often hear sirens of ambulances going by at all times of the night. If that traffic isn't loud enough the back of the hotel is along the freeway so either way you have a constant traffic volume.

Bottom line is we were SO glad we stayed only one night and were very excited to get to our cruise ship so we could shower! We will never be staying here again and don't recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Chose another hotel!!
