“On the Freeway Loud and Aged”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

Stayed here on a lay over from the DR. Only one night thank goodness. Booked it as it came up as Airport hotel with free shuttle. The shuttle was the only good thing. The Rodeway Inn is also renting out the rooms as furnished apartments and the whole bottom floor rooms are now some sort of buisness from hairdresser to realter. The room was old and badly needed updating. Yet the room had a new flat screen tv. The color of the bedding and furniture looked like it was taken from a Quality Inn which is in the same family chain. Our two bed room was on the 5th floor facing the freeway. The beds appeared to be on the floor with no frames. The noise all night from the road was loud and only just drained out by the AC. The freeway side is the even numbers the back side is the ODD. If you do stay here try the odd but then again they may be the apartments they are renting. The location of this motel is great being right on University of Miami Hospital property and down the road from the Marlins Stadium. The bar/restaurant down stairs seems to be the only thing close, but it was great food was fantastic and the service was excellent. Back at the motel we needed a shuttle which starts at 6am. we were told to come down about 10 minutes early. We get to the lobby and its all locked up and dark with a sign saying "leave keys here" It was kinda cold at 5.50am. Driver arrived at 610am... There are closer hotels to the airport. But this is the cheapest at about $59 with free shuttle.

Room Tip: Odd side of property

THE GOOD: The pool seemed pretty clean however it was small. There is a restaurant at the front of the hotel which had great food.

THE BAD: We stayed here the night before our cruise left from the Port at Miami. The photos that were on the website were a complete opposite depiction that what we experienced.

We had a large group so we had three rooms. One room had the wall paper peeling off the wall and was clearly moist. The second room had carpet that was rippled causing a safety hazard for those who weren't as able bodied to walk. Our room had a visible film in the shower and no shower head. All three rooms had a smell that was not desirable. The walkways of the rooms are not patrolled or monitored at all. At 3:00 a.m. one of my family members seen what was assumed to be a hooker walking the walkways. Either that or she was doing the walk of shame from whatever room she came from. For sure not a family friendly place.

The location is also not desirable. The front of the hotel boarders a hospital so you often hear sirens of ambulances going by at all times of the night. If that traffic isn't loud enough the back of the hotel is along the freeway so either way you have a constant traffic volume.

Bottom line is we were SO glad we stayed only one night and were very excited to get to our cruise ship so we could shower! We will never be staying here again and don't recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Chose another hotel!!

The price of this hotel is ok, but the proxitimy to a big 10 lane street makes it way too noisy to have a deep sleep. Only the location near the airport and the bar next to the lobby area are worth it. Staff was very friendly

OK this is not the most luxurious of hotels, and clearly not in the best location, but for an overnight stay perfectly adequate. It has free shuttles to the port , the Airport and the Bayside area, a small pool with very helpful staff. There is a restaurant attatched so if the area worries you it is not necessary to venture out . It is very cheap, clean and we did return after the cruise, would defineately use it again.

I have never stayed in a more disgusting or inadequate hotel! We were in town for the Orange Bowl and somehow wound up here. The hotel is in a terrifying location and we did not feel safe. As we walked to our room, we passed open hotel doors. One room that was open, you could clearly see needles all over the bed. The hotel had signs up everywhere saying "Yes, we have Alarm Clocks!" You could imagine our surprise then when the rooms did not have said alarm clocks or any clock for that matter. We pulled back the cover on the bed to reveal a bear mattress, we had to ask for sheets. The bathroom was disgusting and the toilet paper was gray. There is a restaurant on site that was not very good. Otherwise there is nothing else nearby. I was with a group who wanted to stay because of the low price but if I had had my own car I would have left immediately!
