“Great staff make it one of the best hotels ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2009

We have stayed at the EPIC Hotel in a waterfront Club Level room from 28-31
Aug 2009.
Due to the outstanding experience we had, we would like to take the time to
comment on our stay.

From a mere factual point of view, the EPIC in itself is already a
wonderful place, with sleek and modern rooms, great views of the Miami
harbour and Miami Beach in the distance. You could continue with praise for
all of the tangibles but that would not reflect nor describe what you
really experience here as the characteristics are those of any top-end
hotel around the world and reproducable by others.

What really makes this hotel stand out among its peers in the area and
around the globe are its people. Upon entering the hotel, you can sense a
calm and relaxed type of team spirit, which also has a calm and restoring
effect on the guests. Out of all the nice people we met at the hotel, we
would like to point out some of them who made our stay really special.

Arriving from another hotel in Miami Beach, we called up the hotel to
arrange a transfer to the EPIC in advance and spoke to the Club Level concierge, who
turned out to become our main point of contact in the hotel and club
lounge. He won us over with his professionalism, effectiveness and
attention to detail. You could feel that he was doing at all times much
more than his job to make our stay with you as unforgettable as it was.
With good recommendations and an impeccable drive, he arranged and checked
several tours for us, all of which we turned down in the end as we did not
want to leave the relaxing atmosphere of the hotel anymore.

But this positive experience is not only limited to one single person but
also applies to all other staff we met. They managed to overcome the
distance between employee and guest that is experienced most of the time
when travelling. Due to the amount of travelling we do and the focus on
many other things, it is rare for us to remember specific names. But be it
the young and friendly staff at Club level or the helpful colleagues by the pool,
they all turned from face- and nameless employees into real personalities
and people we will remember and tell others about. They did so due to their
presence, commitment and dedication and by living all the good values
advertised on the in-room leaflets.

As a small note for improvement regarding our stay, we would note our
experience with the Sunday brunch at Area 31. Despite the nice setting,
jazz music and some quite good food, the disappointing part was to find the
same pastries as at the club lounge the day before on the brunch buffet and
then again during the afternoon/ evening the leftovers from brunch
re-appeared at the club.

All in all, this was one of our most exciting hotel stays ever and we will
not hesitate to talk about it to our friends, family and colleagues across
Europe.

Let me start off by saying that the hotel is spectacular and gorgeous..a far cry from the seedy hotels on/in South Beach..the hotel is about 12 minutes away from Downtown Miami..As soon as you walk in you feel like royalty and are treated as such..the rooms are spacious and the waterview is gorgeous especially at nite. The pools are clean, large and the staff is very accomadating, laying out the towels and bringing over fresh water. My only problem with the hotel is that the housekeeping is not allowed to knock on the door they have to ring the doorbell..at 8am, 9 am who hears the faint doorbell?? If you dont respond they just walk right in. I was not keen on that at all..this happened two days in a row where housekeeping walked in on us and woke us up. I called and asked if they could come later in the day they said not a problem...the next day at twelve housekeeping came and said its 1150 if your not out in ten minutes you wont have your room cleaned...rude...but we were headed to the pool anyway..One night we get back to the hotel and i had $108 in my pants threw them in the closet and went to bed...the next day we went to the pool and come back room is cleaned and so were my pockets..while I have no fromal proof I know that it was taken from me. You know when you just have that gut feeling? In any event I didnt want it to damper my trip so I just let it go, it was all i could do at that point..but housekeeping does come in your room at all times of the day and night so for me just a lil creepy..I was looking foward to staying again with girlfriends but am now looking elsewhere...I would recommend this hotel but also adivse people to just be careful

Thank you for taking the time to write a review regarding your stay with us; be assured that your candid feedback will assist our property in providing our guests with the service excellence that you would expect. Let me first apologize to you regarding the housekeeping opportunities which you encountered. Thank you for mentioning in your review the spectacular property and the accommodating staff. The one item which concerns me the most is the mention of an alleged theft. Our guest’s safety and security takes precedence above all concerns. My sincerest apologies.

We stayed here at the start of our tour round Florida - and enjoyed the whole experience so much we stayed again for a further night at the end. Enjoyed both a suite and large room - both overlooking the waterfront. The whole place is just top notch right throughout from arrival to departure and just great rooms and facilities. Very attentive staff and very always happy to make conversation. Okay it's not South Beach, but it's great to escape back to the luxuary of the Epic at the end of each day. Goldfish in the room on arrival for our second stay was a little different.

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. Everything was very neat, clean and new. My only problem (and maybe the manager could consider improving the service in these areas) were three:
a) There was no microwave at the room, and the mini-bar was really very mini. Unfortunately, I realized about this after I had already bought some food at a near supermaket, which of course got spoiled. Dining in Miami could be a little expensive, and sometimes dining at the room is fun and money saving;
b) Please, be aware that the hotel doesn´t have a parking lot!!. They provide you with a valet service for $32 per night, which is quite expensive. I prefered to leave my car in a public parking located two blocks from the hotel (just $10 per night). I saved aprox. USD$ 100.00 during my 5 days at the hotel, but walking alone two blocks in downtown miami was not the safest thing I´ve ever done;
c) The free wi-fi at the room is quite slow!.
If the hotel just improves this aspects, it would be my only choice in any future visit.

We came by taxi and were greeted right away as the driver unloaded our luggage. A smiling gentleman asked our name and as we walked into the stunning lobby, the front desk staff greeted us by name. We had a wonderful young man whisk us up to our junior suite on the 19th floor. Suite 1920 to be exact. Stepping into our room put a huge smile our faces. It is stylish, well suited, posh and comfortable. Our balcony was small but in a great location and the views at night (and day) were stunning. The bathroom was very large, with a deep soaking tub and separate commode area. Great bathroom!

We went to the 16th floor to the pools. Bruno greeted us within the first 30 seconds we were there, putting towels on our chairs and rolling one for our necks. A glass of cold vitality water with an orange slice was placed in our hands (and wow) relaxation set in immediately. The pools were the perfect temperature. Adorable cabana's, chairs and chaise lounges were strategically placed about. We ordered lunch and I can say it was the best hamburger I've ever had. Ever. Ever!

That night we had our anniversary dinner at Area 31. Our dinner was wonderful augmented by the wonderful wait staff. We lingered over dinner and dessert and was surprised by a plate of sweet treats brought to our room by the restaurant manager and a hand written note as an anniversary treat. Such wonderful service. In fact, it's the service that really wins you over. Sure the hotel is stunningly beautiful, but it's the smiling faces you encounter everywhere you go.

I'd love to spend a week here, not just a pre-cruise night. We have nothing praise for this hotel/resort. Can't wait to come back!!

PS: The Acqua di Parma toiletries are worth the stay alone!! And the continental was anything but continental - it was a wonderful breakfast.

Just returned from a stay at the EPIC that concluded a trip all over southern FL.

Positives:
Place is a real beauty..views of Brickel Key and Water amazing

Customer Service: from front desk to valet all smiles and positive vibe

Facilites: infinity edge pools(2 of them) great lounge pool area, better than most hotel fitness room give you everyhting you need

Location: short walk to Mary Brickell village or Bayside for shops and food

Technology: had free internet as Intouch member but flatscreen tv's and minicomputers in every room, ipod hookups as well

Rooms: seperate tub and rain shower, huge bathroom, comfortable bed

Negatives: none really i tried to find fault but Kimpton really brought their A game..Room was only 99 a night as well! If you can deal with not being right on the beach this is the best combo of luxury and value in Miami!
