“Best hotel I have ever stayed!!! Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2009

This is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed at. Stayed here for about a week on my honeymoon before I went to Cabo San Lucas. We were upgraded to Junior Suite as a hotel courtesy since it was our honeymoon. The room was simply spectacular, they were huge!
I can't say much of the food since we only had breakfast there once. The pool was gorgeous and a very nice view. The service was top nothc, after a day or 2 everyone would call us by our names, it was very nice. I loved loved loved this hotel, will stay here every time I go to Miami. The rate was amazing also!

I chose this hotel because it was rated first in Miami on TripAdvisor and because the Miami hotels in the Hilton, Starwood and Accor chains at which I normally stay were either poorly located or poorly rated on TripAdvisor.

It is true that this hotel has a lot going for it. Modern rooms, comfortable beds, sea views (if you pay extra), nice pools, a good gym, free internet (if you sign up to the Kimpton loyalty programme), a business centre where internet access and printing is free, and decent prices. Some staff, notably Elizabeth, the maid on my floor, are lovely.

But in other respects, the Epic doesn't measure up. For a start, its location isn't great: it's in the downtown area, so there isn't much around. And while the pools are nice, they don't catch the sunshine for most of the afternoon. In the room, the shower was poor: weak pressure, and the water never got properly hot. The bathtub was uncomfortably squarish, so not conducive to relaxing in. But the worst part is the restaurant, Area 31, which is a big pity considering it's pleasant location.

The food itself is insipid. The huevos rancheros for breakfast lacked taste, as did the eggs benedict, and the smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel. The service was patchy and often offhand. The prices for dinner are high, yet the food doesn't measure up. Worst of all, I got food poisoning from my dinner there (probably the tuna sashimi-style "crudo"). I woke up at 5am the following morning with stomach cramps and diarrhea, and since I had skipped lunch the day I had dinner at Area 31, it can only have come from the restaurant. I didn't eat for a day afterwards and had diarrhea for several days. To be fair, when I complained, the hotel refunded my dinner and offered me a free dinner. I didn't take them up on the offer (once bitten, twice shy). And being ill put a real dampener on my stay - and my important business meetings.

Booked 2 rooms, 1 night pre-cruise.Check-in good.
Decor-great. Rooms well appointed, new ,well maintained.Free internet in the room.

Our problems were with breakfast in Area 31. Room rate included continental breakfast.
How does a hotel run out of croissants in the morning? We waited a good 20 minutes to be acknowledged, another 22 to get coffee and an even longer 45 minutes to get pastries.
Excuse: they were baking them, more likely they had to send someone out to buy them. Server was pleasant but overwhelmed. Incorrect orders, no cutlery, no jam or butter , I had to forage from other tables for the basics.

Many people complained and with the numerous mistakes he made with other diners we opted not to order waffles or anything else as it was just a comedy of errors. No apology from management .Although I am sure I wil see the usual we will look into an hope you try us again standard response.

Did not go in, but club in the lobby seems to be a popular spot.

The hotel itself is new but style over substance is not what I look for in a hotel. It will be back to Loews South beach for me in future.

The fantastic reviews on TripAdvisor convinced us to spend a weekend at the EPIC Hotel over all the hotels at SoBe. We are happy to say the EPIC Hotel not only met, but exceeded our expectations.

My girlfriend and I stayed in a king room on the 24th floor. The bay view was amazing, the room and bathroom immaculate, and the in-room computer and free internet access were a nice treat. The pool on the 16th floor was lovely -- comfortable and cool with a nice bay breeze, cozy chairs, and fabulous view. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a pleasant stay. Every one of them wore a warm smile and treated us as though we were old friends -- we felt welcome from the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out. The continental breakfast at Area 31 featured a delicious basket of freshly-backed pasteries, and the staff there was top notch as well.

The hotel is within walking distance to the Bayside Marketplace, which features some nice shops and restaurants and street performers. Note that the hotel is a good bit aways from Fort Lauderdale (a cab cost us $73 + tip). If you don't have a car, you're better off flying into Miami. I'm sure the hotel will consider a shuttle service in the future.

We'll definitely be returning and hope to stay longer next time. We would like to thank the staff for their kindness and look forward to seeing them again when we're back.

Wow. This is the best hotel in which I've ever stayed.
We stayed at the EPIC last weekend and have already booked a room for next weekend. Can't wait to stay with them again!!
This hotel is chic, hip, and immaculate. From the moment we checked in we were pampered and felt a million miles away on vacation. Our room was beyond comfortable. The king bed with such soft and comfortable linens was like sleep in a cloud. The bathroom was ultra modern and stunning - the divider between it and the bedroom was funky. A s if that wasn't enough, the balcony overlooked the water and gave fantastic views.
It is hard to say who on the staff was most helpful and attentive since from the valet to reception to waiters, everyone was profession, courteous, and friendly in a way I've never encountered before - even at other 4 and 5 star hotels. But the pool staff deserves particular note (maybe because we spent the most time there...) for their unparalleled service and hospitality. They we truly fantastic, friendly, and fun.
We found the hotel because we were looking for a place in Miami that allowed pets. Not only did they allow our chocolate lab, but they absolutely adored her and made us feel right at home staying with her. This isn't the kind of hotel that allows pets, so long as they're tiny lap-dogs. Our dog is 1 1/2 years old and isn't such a small puppy any more. Far from making us feel out of place with a big dog, the staff showered her with affection each time we went out for a walk. It was almost as if she were the celebrity and we her entourage.
Incidentally, the pictures of the rooms on the hotel's website are, unlike some other properties I've looked at online, identical to what you'll get when you stay there. So I didn't bother with interior pictures and chose to post some non-room pictures.
Like I said, we're already booked for next weekend and counting the days until check-in!

After attending an unexpectedly stressful weekend wedding in the Caribbean, we made the best decision to stay at EPIC Hotel during our overnight layover in Miami. A quick, 20 minute, cab ride from the airport and we were greeted by the friendly staff as if they were anxiously awaiting our arrival. Everyone was completely professional, charming and eager to assist in making sure our stay was fun and relaxing. Upon entering our inviting room we quickly decided to stay and have dinner on the 16th floor at Area 31. It was a beautiful, warm evening...just as the sun was setting...we chose outdoor dining, near the pool, overlooking the water. The seafood dishes were savory, the coctails were unique and delicious, and the desserts sweet and satisfying...couldn't have asked for more. Concierge was friendly and helpful in arranging our airport transfer through Aventura Worldwide Limousine - they saw us off and we promised to return. There is so much more I could say, but I'll leave that for you to go and discover for yourself! (Oh, and if you have AAA, don't forget to check for a discount!!)

We selected this hotel because Tripadvisor rated it no# 1. Therefore, we decided to stay there and then stay additional days in SOBE. This hotel is definitely top-notch. Everything was so plush and trendy. The balony view of the bay, the rooms, the bathroom is all that!!! The restaurant and bar was great! The staff was extremely professional and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.
