“Almost fabulous...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2014

Good rate
Lovely staff
Nice room

So a couple of little niggles.

No turndown service that I think every hotel of this class should have.

After arriving back late from work on Friday it was 20mins to get valeted and out the car. (Not totally the hotels fault but annoying)

Room wasn't spotless after cleaning on day 2.

Room service 45 mins and the food was cold tasty but cold.

Would stay there again if I got a good rate but wouldn't pay the usual asking price.

This is a review that I had posted to TripAdvisor earlier but it never got published. I just noticed and hence reposting.

Stayed there for 4 nights and from booking to end, they were the best.

First when I was booking and for one night, we were staing in a city view, rest three nights in ocean view, so I called the hotel and talked to Chris and asked him if he can give us a ocean view for the city view price for that single night and he did without any questions asked. Chis is a wonderful person. He has great customer service.

Another incident. The first night, the month was May, it was very hot but the ac was not working and the bathroom had a problem too. AC did not work the whole night and when i called the next morning to complain, the manager (don't know his name) gave us the whole previous night off including parking as a compensation for the trouble. Wow! I had not even asked for it but he gave that, that was amazing, what a nice manager and hotel.

This is a luxury hotel, the location is AWESOME, you enter and you see these luxury yatchs all around the hotel, you feel great. Everything was good, nothing to complain. If I ever go to Miami again, this is the place to stay.

Room Tip: Talk to Cris, if he is there, he will surely help you.

Having spent ages reviewing a hotel to stay in Miami we settled on the Mandarin Oriental we were really hoping for the perfect vacation and although it was expensive we didn't want to take chances. Upon arrival (and 14 hours travelling later) the Mandarin couldn't accommodate us. We were distraught! We headed to the nearest hotel hoping for anywhere to stay in complete desperation. Did we get lucky!! The Epic welcomed us with open arms!! We received a great reception from Ashley who was reassuring and helpful. Wonderful bell service from Carlos (who told us to come back and visit again and we definitely will). We had a teeny weeny slightest of issues the next day and Seth looked after us in a most unbelievably great manner. I can honestly say if I owned this hotel I would be so proud of all the staff that we dealt with. They were terrific. Gene the concierge came to our rescue at the end of the vacation - for which we are eternally grateful - he just waved it away like it was nothing. If you are wondering whether or not to stay here - BOOK IT! I've only just read all the great reviews by other guests and they are all well deserved. I wish I had booked it initially and can honestly say that the best thing that happened regarding the Mandarin is that they couldn't accommodate us. Thank you to the staff at the Epic. We can't wait to go back.

Thank you so much for the thrilling detailed review. I cannot tell you how proud I am about all our great employees you had mentioned. Ashley at the Front Office, Carlos, one of our bellmen and Gene, part of our concierge team. I have already proudly passed on your praise to them and they were happy to have been of service to you!
EPIC is about style, product, location and service. So happy you had experienced it all.
Please come back soon, you will get to meet more great staff members!

We were looking for a cool and relaxing weekend getaway in Miami and found it.

The hotel was very well appointed and had a great look and feel. The rooms were modern, clean and provided a great view.

The pool and bars were very good and the Sth Florida weather helped make it a great weekend.

We spent a great deal of time by the pool and Jessica looked after us on both days and although she was fantastic, she looked like she could have used some help.

It was very young generally and valet parking made it very hectic with guests, residents, events and the cool crowd all arriving at the same time.

We would recommend and would return.

Beautiful hotel - - so very very busy! We arrived just as a horde of Latino celebs were heading off to an event. The valets and bellmen were hopping and the cameras were flashing!
We were a bit early, but our room was quickly available. We had been upgraded to a great room with a terrific view (2804). It was such a relief to find a lovely room, a really comfy bed, a great bathroom with wonderful amenities. We appreciated the double sinks, and the rainfall showerhead. Loved the roman drapes by the tub that, when raised, gave you a view right out to the beautiful balcony and the bay beyond.

We found staff to be attentive and helpful. We travel a lot and this is the first time that I was contacted a week before our arrival to ask if we had any special requests. That is a great touch.

concierge was helpful, front desk staff were charming. The only reason I am not giving this 5 stars is that it appears they did not put enough attention into soundproofing the rooms. on our first night, I woke up to the sound of the alarm in the room to our right. On our second night, the person staying in the room to our right kept their tv going all night long. We mentioned it to the front desk the next morning, and they said that security would look into it, however it happened again on the third night (and by this time I was using earplugs). The good news is that when I phoned the front desk at 2 a.m, it was handled promptly and the tv was turned off about 10 minutes later.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would likely return on our next visit. It was a very pleasant alternative to the South Beach scene and we enjoyed exploring the neighbourhood.

In summary, very good hotel, with a real focus on customer-service.

Room Tip: 2408 has awesome views

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights in April and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is luxurious, clean, airy and the staff are simply top notch in their care and attention to customers. Special mention must go to Gene on the concierge desk who really did go above and beyond the call of duty to help two clueless Brits to explore Miami to its full potential. We're not huge fans of being taxi'd around everywhere and prefer to get around by other means. Therefore, with this outlook, a possible compromise with this hotel (for us) was that it's not that close to South Beach and the popular Ocean Drive area. This possible geographical negative, however, was turned triumphantly into a positive by Gene who loaned us two of the hotel's bikes (a free service), and then gave us superb directions to Ocean Drive and the South Beach area in general - he really was magnificent, picking out the prime locations, assisting us with maps and ensuring the vehicles were in top notch condition with a maintenance check before we took them out. By the way, the cycle ride from this hotel to South Beach is around 30 minutes but the land is completely flat, cycle friendly (cycle paths pretty much the whole way) and the ride takes in some wonderful scenery. Its a piece of cake for anyone who is relatively active in everyday life - a very straightforward ride. In fact, we took the bikes out on more than one occasion, such was our enjoyment. Larry and Stefanie we're also great.
The downtown area offers a free of charge metro mover to help you get around and explore downtown Miami - it's a monorail type vehicle and is quite spectacular in that you find yourself weaving between the buildings, above traffic and getting to your desired location in quick time. There are also a number of trolleys and trams (the ones we used were all free) and they're easy to use, as well as an economical metro rail service to help you get to other hotspots, such as the magnificent marlins park if you fancy some baseball. The metro rail is not free but is very cost effective. Oh, and the Miami Heat basketball team play in an arena that is about a 6 or 7 minute walk from the epic! So if you're a sport lover, the epic is a fab choice if you fancy catching some NBA or MLB action.
So, we strongly recommend this hotel. Sure, you're not on South Beach, but the hotel has so many other positives that heavily outweigh the fact you're not on the beach, not least the quality of staff. And who cares anyway, you're within easy reach of the beach by bike (or taxi if you must) and the outdoor pool area at the Epic is seriously good, you couldn't ask for a better pool with a more laid back ambiance, it's superb!
In summary, Great staff, great food, nothing but good stuff to say really. Thanks to the whole team there....we'll be back.

We were given the top floor (30th) so the view was great. Bathroom classy, actual bedroom with two double beds not that big really considering I paid $893 for the two nights we were here. The beds are actually double beds same size as British double beds, whenever I have been in the states and the room said double you always got 'queen' size. If you get breakfast in your rate although it does not say it you will only get continental, I raised this and they gave us full breakfasts at no charge. Staff are attentive and helpful which helps, but the rooms are not as impressive as the rest of the hotel.
