“Not what we were expecting”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

We checked in during the Miami Art Basel and the hotel was one of the sponsors, but I don't believe that gives it any excuses for poor service. We had a junior suite and amazingly there was no coffee making machine in the room or any bottles of water. The bottled water eventually appeared in our room after 5 days. A tray of leftovers from room service stayed on our floor level for over 36 hours before being removed.
We were given vouchers for a free breakfast, but the downside of this is that the waiters become reluctant to serve you after your first visit, i guess because they know there is no chance of a tip?
We were given a key to our mini-bar and told it would be refreshed daily. There was a key already in the fridge when we arrived and the bar wasn't 'refreshed' until day 5 - same as for the bottled water.
The windows aren't double glazed so you can hear everything going on outside.
On a positive note, the concierge knows his stuff and is very helpful.
This place is only good as somewhere to rest your head in my opinion - eat out and make sure you come back with your own supplies in case the mini bar or water hasn't been 'refreshed'.
A poor experience in a fantastic city.

We stayed at the Epic hotel for a weekend getaway, we live in Florida and were able to get a great rate for a suite under the Florida resident rate.

From the moment we checked in the staff was extremely friendly and made us feel like home. The hotel is pet friendly, so we brought our dog and everyone played with her. We were not able to check in until 4:30 pm, which was a little bit of inconvenience, however we got a credit to be used in the hotel and we had champagne and strawberries waiting in the room, which was a nice touch.

The room was very spacious with a separate living room area and bedroom. The views were amazing over Brickell. The bathroom was nice and well equipped with a tub.

We had some treatments at the Exhale spa, we did enjoy the experience and again the staff was very friendly. We had dinner at Zuma and the food was amazing as well as the ambiance, I absolutely loved the miso cod.

The hotel was very busy as any hotel in Miami and sometimes service can be compromised but this never happened at Epic hotel. We have stayed at other hotels in Miami and Epic is our favorite hotel.

The Viceroy hotel is nice too, however the customer service is far superior at the Epic Hotel. We had breakfast at the Area 31, which was fine, the view was the best.

The Hotel check in process was quick and efficient the location of the public rooms was very accessable I loved the morning coffee in the lobby but if you preferred you could call for a coffee pot to be sent in to the room. Afternoon cocktails in the lobby was also fun. The room was very comfortable and the Housekeeping was the best. I traveled for business but look forward to visiting the Epic as a tourist thge next time.

Room Tip: Water front is the best

Thanks for your great comments. We are happy to see that you had a fun and relaxing stay and enjoyed our attentive and friendly service. Our roof top bar and restaurant is definitely a fun place to be, either for happy hour – the best in Miami – or for a romantic dinner. We are glad you had a great time and we are looking forward to your next stay with us.

I stay in hotels on business pretty much from Sunday through Thursday and I have got to say that the Epic Hotel in Miami is my favorite. The hotel staff always are warm and friendly and, simply, the best! Somehow they always make me feel as though I am an old friend just coming to visit, even when I haven't been back in months. My favorite thing about the Epic is the guestroom bathrooms. They are beautiful, clean and huge. I stay in a lot of 4-5 star hotels and I must confess the Epic bathrooms are the best! I love that one can take a luxurious bath and watch the flat screen TV through the open window into the main guestroom at the same time. I also LOVE the restaurant "Area 31". What can I say -- it is outstanding. The Chef is fantastic and the service is what one would expect from any Kimpton Hotel -- excellent. The pool deck is incredible with 3 pools and a gorgeous view of the ocean channels. And I am very impressed with the fitness center and the fact that I can take their yoga classes while I am staying at the hotel (for a small charge). All in all, I can't say enough about this hotel. The Epic Hotel is one of Miami's best kept secrets! Shhhh.

Room Tip: Definitely opt for an ocean view room.

We were very pleased with everything about EPIC Hotel in Miami. Our room on the 26th floor has a balcony with a table for two. Inside, the bathroom featured both a walk-in tiled shower and a separate marble tub, which opened up to the bedroom, or could be closed off with a drop-down shade. The restaurant, Area 31, served great food on the 16th floor, and you could dine inside or out. The lobby restaurant, Zuma, is one of the hotest spots in Miami. Very trendy Japanese dining and ranked #4 of 918 restaurants on Trip Advisor. We loved the location, which was a short walk across the bridge from Truluck's, a wonderful place to eat (#6 in Miami), which is a downtown alternative to Joe's Stone Crab, if you're looking for fresh fish. Overall, EPIC is a great hotel in keeping with the Kimpton tradition.

Save your pennies and stay on the concierges level. Zuma's food was worth every penny, try the tasting menu.

In general this is a posh Miami hotel where you are truly pampered. The roof top pool and restaurant was accentuated by a unbelievable pool side staff which caters to your every whim but doesn't crowd you. The spa was a disappointment though, although the therapists are well above average the facilities were not, you need to work on this folks.
Overall if your looking for a phenomenal hotel within a 10 min drive of south beach here it is
