“Lovely hotel, great rooms & exceptional service on the Club level! Good value too”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2011

We stayed at the Epic (club level) for three days in Mid-May after spending the previous days in South beach. We contacted Epic ahead of our schedule to confirm a couple of special requests and the Resort Manager, Jacqueline Ploettner, was exceptional in responding quickly and confirmed all our requests. Jacqueline and all the staff we had contact with in the club level were outstanding, even better than we expected! A special thank you goes to Gene, Mark and Rachel (I think that’s her name) for being so helpful and meeting our vegetarian dietary requirements.

The views from the room are nice, especially if you are facing the bay. The rooms and bathrooms are of a good size. The bathrooms have his and her sinks, shower cubicle and most have a deep soaking tub too. The balconies are nice to sit out on and view the boats coming to in to the bay area. The beds were large and very comfortable and soft, as were the 6-8 pillows – a great place to relax after a long day walking/driving around.

The continental breakfast in the club level is nice, although there is a bigger breakfast selection in the hotel’s main restaurant. We had a hot breakfast one day and the food was very tasty. The club level food at the 5 daily food presentations is nice and tasty, and the ability to have continuous free drinks, spirits and soft drinks is a real benefit and worth the extra for the club level The Club level concierges are helpful and knowledgeable on tourist information as well as local information (with recommendations for dinners etc) and there is a real personal touch in the Club Lounge.

The hotel is located on the bay, and is on the waterfront. There is a pharmacy within 2 blocks (i.e. 2-3 mins walk) and the metro/monorail station is very close by too. Biscayne Bay market is about a 10 minute walk and has some touristy shops and places to eat. Brickell Village is again about a 10 minute walk and has loads of great restaurants and bars and a really nice place to go for an evening stroll and have dinner – we went there every night and the atmosphere was great – well worth a visit. It was completely safe to walk there at night time from the hotel, but as with anywhere always be vigilant and aware of your surroundings.

For those wanting to go to South Beach, its probably about a 15-20 min drive max (unless you’re going in rush hour).

We didn’t get a chance to use the spa or pool, but both looked welcoming. We used valet parking and it was generally quick but its worth calling down to tell them to have your car ready if you are in a rush.

All in all, the hotel and staff are great, and service is exceptional. Given the price we paid, we would say its very good value for money, especially compared to south beach and would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay down town.

A couple of tips - if you want to go see the aligators at the everglades, we'd recommend using Coopertown - they were really good. Its about a 30-40 min drive to the everglades from the Hotel and worth it. Secondly if you want to go to the Keys, its a good 3.5 hour drive to Key West. We drove through Key Largo and stopped at Isla Morado for lunch with a sea view - amazing views and food!

Room Tip: Lower number rooms have best bay views

The Hotel has every amenity you can think of. Our room was so beautiful - huge bed - bathroom with open window to the room - the decor was modern, sleek and comfortable. Our balcony had a breathtaking view of the canal towards South Beach. When my husband saw the room, he said - honey, I feel like Paris Hilton. The lobby was packed with models in stiletto heals with slinky dresses. The restaurants and bars were hopping. The food excellent - beautiful food for beautiful people. Room service delivered a microwave to our room for us to keep for the remainder of our stay. The mechanic came up to disassemble my daughter's bike and then went out to CVS to buy some super glue for me. The front desk staff are truly genuine happy people. Join the Kimpton Loyalty club for free wifi and a $10 mini-bar credit. The Epic was like floating in heaven!

Room Tip: view of the canal /few levels above the pool

Great city get-away. Location is perfect because you have an easy route to 95. The pool area is very polished. Bar has a great selection of rum. Breakfest is very nice on the balcony. Very tasty and relaxing.

A really excellent hotel. Couldn't fault service or cleanliness and staff extremely friendly and helpful. If we ever go back to Miami, we will definitely stay here again as it made our stay truly memorable.

I was here on a convention in January 2011 and reviewed it then. This time around, brought the hubby. With some trepidation, I was wondering whether my recollections and expectations of the " fabulosity" of the hotel would be dashed as I had repeatedly told my husband he would love, love, love it. I didn't have to convince him at all as the concierge at the front desk (sorry, I'm bad with names) escorted us to the Club Lounge on the 29th floor, introduced us to MARK (5***** asset to Kimpton) and then to our room. We were in a hurry to make it to our reservation to Zuma as our flight arrived 3 hours later than planned. Since we couldn't stay around for cocktails, Mark brought 2 flutes of bubbly to our room to welcome us to the hotel. We managed to change clothes in time, and before we headed down to the Lobby with the champagne in hand, stopped by the Lounge to thank Mark who then would not let us go down until he topped of our glasses. Zuma, in turn continued the great welcome, as the restaurant manager that I remembered from January immediately offered to pour our bubbly to Zuma's own flutes; I was ready for the usual "Sorry, you can't bring that in here" routine. What a great beginning to a wonderful 3 nights at the Epic--all done so smoothly and so well orchestrated.
Mark gave us gems of recommendations to our first Peruvian restaurant (mostly locals) and a very local seafood restaurant by the river. We wouldn't have found these on our own. He would have to tell you the places himself as I don't want them to get too touristy and to lose that local flavor.
My husband is already looking ahead at this schedule to see when we can come back...

We arrived slightly concerned having two young children in tow to this trendy city escape, but these fears quickly vanished as soon as we had handed over our keys to the valet and made our way to the dedicated check in for club level guests.
Although we cant compare to the standard rooms, i would whole heartedly recommend upgrading if you are able to. The level of service, food, drinks and ambience we experienced was like no other hotel we have stayed at anywhere in the world.
The team on the 23 rd floor work tirelessly to make you feel at ease and our children felt at home straight away.
We were upgraded to a suite and received champagne and strawberries as a suprise from the hotel for our recent wedding in nyc, which was much appreciated.
The pool area was very swish and trendy and my wife and daughter loved the pool, which is not really geared up for kids but managed to fill a few hours.
Computer and free wifi was a great touch also.
The area was great for us and although our first trip to Miami, was prefferred over staying near south beach. The nearby harbour shops were great for a family.
We will return to Miami and we will be back to the Epic every time!
