“Basic, but Great Location”

This was a nice hotel with a great beach location. We visited in the off season and had the place pretty much to ourselves.

Rooms were basic, but had microwave and refrig. One thing I did wonder was how they cleaned the dishes that were provided in that I didn't see any replacements on the maids carts.

Wireless internet was weak on the west end of the building, but they moved us to the other end and had no problems.

Mexico Beach is a great location, and we would visit again and stay at this hotel again.

“Loved everything about this place!!”

My husband and I just spent 9 days in this hotel and we enjoyed every moment of it. We loved the fact that the rooms have a kitchen in them. We were very impressed with everything. And you cannot beat the price in the off season. If you want peace and quiet this is the place to be in the fall. The rooms were very clean and we loved the balcony view. I have read most all of the reviews of this place and the ones who have problems seem like people who could not be pleased with anything. No, they don't provide shampoo in the rooms. So what? Hey lady, bring your own. And the towels were not worn out as one review says. They were thick and white as snow and looked brand new. I am a person that is sometimes hard to please and I found no fault with this place. I recommend it very highly to anyone. It is especially nice for the "older generation" who don't have to have a lot of night life or excitement going on every minute. We will be back. We are actually thinking of going back next month we loved it so much.

It's hard to find a beachfront property that will book for less than a week, so this place fills a real need. This was a fun funky place to go for a few days in a not too crowded part of FL. It is clean and well operated. Bring dish soap if you get a kitchenette. Your balcony is right over the beach and there was no seaweed in June and the beach was well tended (no trash). There are umbrellas/chairs for rent, or bring your own. Towels and bar soap were cheesy, but this place is more like old time FL before we all got spoiled by "bath sheets" and 600 ct linens. Walk down to Toucans Rest. and eat some so-so fish and enjoy the live beach music band. Go downstairs and listen to some truly awful karaoke..... it will all make you feel like a kid again. We will go back.

“Best place on the beach”

El Governor Motel

If you want to stay "on the beach", this is the place--you can practically dive off your private balcony into the water (but I wouldn't recommend trying it!). The room I stayed in was very clean and had plenty of room. The amenities were nice and included a 3/4 size refrigerator, microwave, toaster, even plates and silverware. Having a second sink outside the bathroom was very handy. There were plenty of linens provided. The beach is excellent, with the white powder sand the Panhandle is famous for. There is a gift shop with a wide choice of items, even selling beer! The staff was friendly and very helpful. The pool was a bit small and got crowded at times. If you are staying here on the weekend, I would advise getting a room away from the pool/bar area, as it is very noisy until late at night. Parking is also a bit of a problem, as you have to park head-to-head just off the highway. Some reviews call this place overpriced, but I think it was a bargain compared to many places on the beach. Highly recommended!
