“A Must Do on the Space Coast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

Awesome time kayaking on the Indian River Lagoon and Thousand Islands with Space Coast Kayaking. The kayaking was fun, not strenuous and definitely offered the opportunity to enjoy the different eco-systems of the Indian River up close. We went through the mangrove tunnels, saw dolphin, manatees and a wide variety of birds.

I went with a group that had a variety of experience levels, and you had a choice of tandem or a single kayak. Our guide, Jim, was wonderful. He managed to keep us on track, regardless if it was your first time, or if you had been kayaking for years. His knowledge and passion for the area was extensive. He gave us lots of details about the estuary, plants and animals. Overall it was a great time, beautiful scenery and a wonderful experience.

“A Fantastic Natural Adventure - Time and Effort Well Spent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

This past August was our second visit for some paddling with Space Coast Kayaking - and I cannot say enough about what a great morning adventure tour this is. It is an eye-opening view of the Banana River Estuary where, if you are lucky, you can get (carefully) up close and personal to manatees, horseshoe crabs, dolphins, and all manner of fish and birds.

The experience was well worth the visit because of Jim, owner-operator and our guide. Jim has an absolute passion for the environment and an obvious love for the Banana River and surroundings. His knowledge of the Thousand Islands area and his efforts to revitalize the area's ecology are astounding. Jim's touring style is simply conversational as well as educational. His pace is guided by his guests desire and ability (at one point racing my son who is an avid kayaker), and he took the time to not just show us things but to teach us how to look for things on our own.

The tour we went on was 3-hours long and very reasonably priced considering the value we all took from it. The biggest expenditure here is your own efforts to paddle but it is well worth your time. This tour was different than our last so we will take another adventure next vacation and may find new places to explore. NOTES: Sunscreen is a must. Hats recommended. Plan to get a little wet so dress appropriately including footwear. Do NOT forget cameras - but DO get a floating dry bag to store them in while not taking pictures. The sun and the effort will make you thirsty. Jim provides water, but bringing your own in a reusable bottle will help the environmental cause.

The river and these tours appear to be more passion than business with Jim and Space Coast Kayaking - and that makes all the difference to us. Highly recommended! Do not miss this as the next best thing to the ocean when near Cocoa Beach.
