“Wonderful Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2014

This was our first trip to Melbourne and staying at a bed and breakfast. It was such a beautiful and romantic getaway to celebrate our first anniversary. We stayed in the Winward Suite for two nights. It was spacious, quaint, beautifully decorated and romantic. We had breakfast on the porch each morning and the food was absolutely delish!!!!!! The staff was always courteous and friendly. I can't say enough about how great our stay was. You just have to go and experience it for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

Tis was our second visit. Almost two years ago we stayed here for a special event. Last time we stayed in the Yellow Room; this time it was the Creole Room downstairs. Service is just as thoughtful and thorough, cleanliness impeccable, decor and comfort---perfect. We have grown to love this place and plan on visiting again sooner and not waiting so long between visits. It's the best place to stay in Melbourne Beach if you are traveling without kids, and, especially if you want peace and quiet, quality accomodations, and a real relaxing Florida experience. BTW- beach chairs, ice, umbrellas and even snacks/water are supplied free for the taking for beach time. Turn-down service is free and optional and you even get a little baked treat for each occupant left on the bed, wrapped nicely too. Breakfast can be had up front, or, they will bring it and set up your patio table so you can dine quietly and in private. There is free WIFI in the rooms too. I mean, how much better could it be?

Room Tip: We loved the Yellow Room and Creole Room. The Sunrise room--we spent one night there on the last tri...

This was our first trip to Port d'Hiver but I definitely think we will be back. We stayed in the Windward Suite - which was really beautifully decorated and had a small porch overlooking the very pretty pool. You could also see a sliver of the beach. My husband carefully chose this room to avoid the road noise and we did not hear a sound. It was very peaceful and comfortable in our room. The breakfasts are delicious and they give you a choice of sweet or savory, or you can even have a sampling of each. Fresh baked cookies and drinks are available all day and at 5p.m. every evening they have small appetizers with wine or beer. The one problem we had was ever being hungry enough to try any of the restaurants in town! The bed linens are from England and they are scrumptious. Keep in mind you are not directly on the beach but right across the street. Port d'Hiver has everything you could possibly need to head to the beach, right down to small coolers to transport cold drinks and the cold drinks as well. Really, we have stayed in a number of lovely places but none of them have ever given as much attention to detail as this bed and breakfast. The only tiny issue we had was that they called our room while we had the do not disturb sign out - to see when they could refresh the room. Luckily, we were really just getting ready to leave but that is something they might want to avoid. Other than that, it was perfectly lovely.

Room Tip: The Windward Suite is back off of the road and has no downstairs neighbors and is on the corner. Fo...

We absolutely love Port D'Hiver!!! We have actually been there numerous times over the years-but have finally taken the time to write a review.
We have stayed in 6 out of the 10 available rooms and found each of them to be perfect. Our most recent stay was in the newly renovated Walter's Suite and it did not disappoint. It was so peaceful to sit on the oceanfront balcony each morning and relax with a cup of coffee.
What makes us keep going back-yes it's the attention to detail and proximity to the beach, but ABOVE ALL it is the owners and staff!! Each time we have been there, they have gone above and beyond for us and helped us in anyway we might need. My husband is a picky eater and they always cook him whatever he wants for breakfast:) Nightly turndown is an added treat as well.
One stay at Port d'Hiver just won't be enough. You'll want to keep coming back!!!

Port d'Hiver is pure luxury! From the beautifully decorated rooms with luxurious beds and amazing views of the ocean to the gourmet breakfast and the serene atmosphere...and with a staff that goes above and beyond to make your stay perfect! Absolutely the best place we have ever stayed.

Without a doubt one of the best hotel/B+B experiences to be had. The quality of service, personability of the staff, amazing rooms and phenomenal food makes the place. Could not say a bad word about them. Not to mention you are right across the street from the Beach and walking distance from some great resturaunts. Bravo!

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms by the Pool are my favorite. Havana tops the list

My husband and i wanted to get out of town for a few days so we drove three hours to the bed and breakfast. We live practically next door to the finest resort in Northern Florida and so we usually are not overly impressed with too many properties. Port D'hiver exceeded our expectations. The property was historic, beautiful, and well groomed. We stayed in the Walter's Suite on the second floor facing the ocean. An absolutely beautiful room with gorgeous furnishings and the exposed wood ceiling I wanted to take home with me. The sheets on the bed were fit for royalty and I saw the ladies actually ironing them like my grandmother used to do. Fresh flowers were everywhere. We had our breakfast brought up to our room each morning and ate it outside on the porch. The food was divine, one day we had a peach puff pancake with a sausage burrito, rice bake, bacon and fresh fruit. Our favorite part of the property was the spa pool. Perfect temperature for relaxing. My husband really loved the fresh baked cookies available all day and the treats they left on our bed each night. The owners are lucky to have a wonderful group of ladies working there, they made a difference in how well we were attended to. I cant say enough good things about our total experience there. We will definitely be going back!
