good food, but tends to take awhile, so don't go if you're in a hurry.

“My favorite Italian restaurant in Melbourne”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2008

If you are craving good Italian food in a casual restaurant, Pane e Vino is the place to visit. My husband and I always go here to eat Italian food instead of the chain Italian restaurants. We always get great service. The servers are friendly and professional and do a great job getting your food to you as promptly as possible. The food is awesome! We've had the chicken marsala, chicken francese, lasagna just to name a few and have enjoyed each meal thoroughly. The desserts are absolutely wonderful and the tiramisu cannot be beat!

Don't go here expecting a sophisticated decor. This is a casual family restaurant with a full deli inside. It is not a large restaurant but they do have outdoor seating. It is located next to a theatre so be prepared for some foot traffic as you eat outside. I find that interesting as I like to people watch. Go here a few times and you'll be treated like a regular customer.

“We won't be repeat customers.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2008

My husband and I split the pasta sampler (lasagna, manicotti, etc).
I would say that it was average at best and sort of a skimpy thing to share (we were told to expect huge proportions by our concierge)... and since they do charge a $5.25 split plate fee, I was at least expecting a nice dinner salad to go along with that. Iceburg with a little romaine tossed in, two slivers of cucumber and one sliver of carrot all drowned in dressing--no joke. The bread was nothing special. The raspberry tea was excellent and our server ( a young lady) was pleasant, but eating outdoors here (on the sidewalk) when Indiana Jones and Sex and The City are new releases (movie theatre right next door) was not a good plan as there was a herd of people coming through ( we thought they must have been giving out free passes)! We would not return to this restaurant, unfortunately.

This is a true Italian neighborhood type restaurant. . Located next to the Twin Oaks theater in Melbourne the restaurant is open for lunch & dinner. Good traditional Italian fare, XLNT desserts and deli.

very yummy what i'd call "authentic italian" food. served up in "deli" atmosphere. pricing is high for the atmosphere, but not at all for the quality of the food.
