We are Cubanized-Americans from Miami(a rare breed) relocated to Brevard County, so we know true Cuban and Latin foods-We were in our mechanic's shop getting our car worked on,and he suggested we go over to the Cuban Sandwich Shop in Melbourne for lunch, once we got our car back. We found it, and went inside. There was no strong, fragrant and highly distinctive smell of Cuban coffee inside-the first warning! There were NO customers, either! At the left of the counter, there in the glass case were some stale-looking empanadas, and some really unappetizing pastelitos(guava pastries)-flabby looking, white industrialized things with a modicum of pink stuff peeking out of the center(guava should be bright red and oozing out from the middle)totally a turn-off and totally un Cuban. We really should have left then and there, but my husband insisted we give them a chance and ordered the Cuban sandwih-BIG MISTAKE! It came out too quickly on soggy bread-pork was on the verge of going bad/industrial ham and cheese(GROSS!) no tomato, no lettuce-only the miniscule pickle was edible. This disgusting concoction was $7.25. A disgrace to ALL Cubans and ALL Hispanics! In Miami, this place would be shut down after only one day! For all you Brevard people-This is NOT a true Cuban restaurant. You have been warned!
