“Nice suites on the ocean with comfortable room for 6”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2012 via mobile

They don't always list the "family suites" online which have a king bedroom, double bunk, and comfortable sleeper sofa. The sleep number bed was just ok. Maid service was inconsistent, had to call 3 out of 4 days to request towels, basic cleaning. A great location, wonderful balconies in every room, beautiful pool and sun decks with pool bar, great quiet section of beach within easy reach of any dining, shopping, or activities. Well kept grounds, clean, modern rooms.

After spending a few days in Orlando we wanted to head for the beach and checked into the the Radisson based on Trip Advisor reviews and the affordable rates. The location could not have been better. We had direct access to the beach and an ocean view two room suite with a bunk beds for the kids. The room had been updated and overall was very nice. There were a few glitches such as the doors opening a closing a little rough and the privacy chain was broken. The air conditioning also had a rattle in the fan. We had great space in the room with a pull out couch, desk, chairs, multiple televisons, bar area with refridgerator, microwave and small sink. The king size bed was a sleep number bed which I don't prefer.

The access to the beach was excellent. We even took advantage of the rental service and picked up a body board. The outdoor pool area was also excellent. Plenty of chairs, space and the water was perfect. As others noted there is a shower to rinse off after being in the ocean which was tough to operate.

In the morning we took advantage of the restaurant for breakfast and found the food good and the service to be excellent.

Overall this hotel is a little dated and has some scratches and dents. I thought the value was excellent for what it offered. Two room suites, great ocean views and excellent access to the beach. I would certainly stay there again and would recommend it to others. Unless you want to spend double the price I doubt you will find a better option on the beach.

Room Tip: Ask for bunk beds if you have kids

We just returned from a 4 night stay at Radisson Suite Hotel Oceanfront. We had the family suite (with the bunkbeds.) First of all, let me say, that this was our very first time visiting the Melbourne area. We had spent 5 days in Orlando visiting Disney before coming down to Melbourne. We didn't arrive until around 10 p.m. We had a smooth, friendly check-in, assistance with our bags. Our room was the best oceanfront room (view wise) we've ever had. You couldn't possibly get any closer to the ocean or have a better view. The beach was unlike any other beach we have ever visited. Extremely quiet and somewhat private. No more than a handful of people on the beach at any given time during our stay...which was awesome! Same thing for the pool. Some days, we were the only people at the pool (other than the bartender.) Of course, the time of year we went could've been why the crowds were low. At any rate, I'd visit during this time of year again in a heartbeat.

Now for the rooms. This is not an exceptional hotel (roomwise.) HOWEVER....the awesome service, cleanliness, views, and location more than made up for the few flaws we found with the room. The sleep number bed is awesome. Our room did have a microwave and a small fridge which was nice. The bath was well equipped with towels, etc. and was very clean. The kids utilized the bunkbeds (BEDS were already made up, also.) As far as the flaws with the room itself...we had an outdated TV in the bedroom and could not order pay per view movies from the bedroom, only the living area. There is no table and chairs in the room. Instead, there is a huge desk which really made no sense. There is a long counter behind the desk against the wall where the fridge and microwave were. It also had a small sink. I really didn't understand the set up of it all. Under the long counter, was just a blank wall. No cabinets or anything. Also, no decorating above the counter on a huge blank wall. Just looked odd. I'm not sure if our room had been updated or not (hopefully, our room wasn't considered updated. LOL.)
The room did have great internet access. Also, daily housekeeping was among the best we've experienced at any hotel. Our beds were made daily (including the bunkbeds, floors were vacuumed, everything restocked.) The room was very spacious and more than met our needs (space wise.)
There is a coin laundry room on 3 or 4 different floors which is great. Soda machines (Coke) on every floor. Snack vending is on 2nd floor.
We did utilize the restaurant (Lena's.) We ate breakfast there every morning. Not the best food we've ever had or anything, but still pretty good. We ate outside on the covered deck overlooking the ocean. It was great. We also had great service. The breakfast menu consists of pancakes, french toast, eggs, omelets, bacon, sausage, cereals, fresh fruits, and they did offer a few breakfast sandwiches. We also utilized the pool bar. Ben was a great guy who went out of his way to make us comfortable. The kids ordered lunch from the pool bar one day. They offer chicken strips, burgers, fries, onion rings, club sandwiches, etc. Food was great. Pretty good coladas (although ours were all alcohol free. :)
The beach access is also great. They have a spray off area, which can be a little tricky to use. You have to push in rather hard for the water to come out. We also utilized the gazebo on the upper deck. We sat out there for about an hour to take in some of the amazing views.
The pool and outdoor hot tub was nice. The pool was heated (another big plus.) Plenty of lounge chairs by the pool, and access to beach towels. This place is very windy, so keep that in mind when wearing your hats. :)
As far as proximity to restaurants and such...There is a Walmart directly across the street (totally within steps of the hotel.) A Friendly's restaurant and McDonald's all directly across the street. There are tons of restaurants in Melbourne, but we found that they are kind of spaced out. Not too big of a deal, though. The number one restaurant we recommend for seafood lovers is "Shells." If you are a haddock or crab cakes fan, you will LOVE "Shells." Other restaurants in the area include TGI Friday's, Applebees, Smoky Bones, Boston Market, Texas Roadhouse and many, many others. Just utilize your GPS and you can find just about anything you'd want.
All in all, we had a fantastic stay and would definitely stay here again, without hesitation. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is because I feel the rooms could be a little better, a little more updated. :)

Room Tip: You may want to pack bug spray. In the evenings, bugs from the outdoors would stick to our patio doo...

My family has stayed at this hotel several times over the last few years. We love the convenient location and the fact that all the rooms directly face the ocean. Since our last stay, the hotel has started room renovations. In general, the updates in the room look great! The rooms now have a very modern (but still beachy) look. However, they made some changes and removed a small kitchen/bar area that was really convenient for a quick lunch or snack in the room. Instead the area has been replaced with a desk and a small console table. This might be useful for the business traveler, but definitely not a plus for a family beach weekend.

Customer service wasn't as great during this last visit, but hopefully those issues have been addressed. For my next trip to Melbourne Beach, I might just give another hotel a try.

My sister and I booked 2 rooms for 3 nights when visiting my daughter. The rooms were large, had comfy beds and lovely views. On the down side, our coffee maker did not work, the food was poor and overpriced and the staff did not go out of their way to provide great service. I must say it is doubtful we would return. Of particular annoyance was the lack of decent cable choices-apparently, the management went to a basic cable package, but still listed additional unavailable channels.

Room Tip: Do not purchase the breakfast. It was barely edible and greatly overpriced- you would be better off...

Each room is an oceanfront suite with balcony, kitchen area and lots of room for a family to enjoy. Pool, beach chairs, restaurant and the staff couldn't be more courteous and helpful. Entire hotel is immaculate and each time we have stayed there, it was perfection. Our family has stayed there on vacation also and agree. The rates are much less than nearby oceanfront hotels and the location is close to shopping and entertainment. Top of the line hotel.

I really expected better... The rooms were clean but the maid service was very slow and unreliable. Everyday we had to request wash cloths, one day we returnd to our room at 4:30pm and the room had not been cleaned, this issue was resolved within an hour.
The room size and view was the best thing about the hotel.. My husband and I had a corner room on the 3rd floor, however the hotel is updating furniture and painting the balconies they work from the top to the bottom so our room would be one of those last on the list to be updated. I must say we did enjoy ourselves.

Room Tip: Corner suites are very roomy
