Cape Romano has it all for Marco visitors, and even full-timers. First is the iconic dome house, now partially submerged, after decades of storms and beach erosion. Very interesting history. Second, it is a very good fishing spot, with many gulf species cruising the flats, ranging from pompano, redfish to sharks, including the abundant bonnet heads to the bigger-boy bulls and blacktips. Boater beware though: the tidal current is quite strong at the point, and there are numerous shallow sand bars and reefs that are unmarked, some of which shift considerably with time. Watch the locals and tour guides to see the safe passages.
