Is convenient to be right on the beach! Also has a restaurant on the 1st level--bar/grill type menu with patio seating.

The Apollo is at the end of hotel strip so requires a walk to get to other restaurants and hotels. Very nice accomodations; 3 bedrooms/2 baths with Kitchen, dining and living.

The only annoyance was that the balcony was not screened and there were several bird visitors. Required leaving the patio door closed and the furniture becomes covered with droppings!

We stayed in a 3 bedroom/2 bath unit which was very well appointed. Brand new kitchen amenities and washer and dryer. Two of the bedrooms had TVs in them (one flat screen), and the living room has a 40+ inch flat screen (no HD). Also, the wi-fi worked great for internet access. Very spacious place with comfortable seats/couches. This unit has an enormous lanai which comes in handy for meals and happy hours. Whoever said that the pool wasn't big is lying. It's much bigger than an average condo pool and the hot tub comfortably will hold 5 or 6 adults. We didn't really need to use the help for anything, but they all seemed friendly.

I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. I did see some of the one bedroom units and they are small, so the 2 and 3 bedroom units seem to be the way to go.

We have been going to Marco Island now for about 25 years staying at Eagles Nest Resort and Surf Club Resort. Which by the way are both excellent places to stay. This was our first and last time we will ever stay at The Apollo. When we arrived to our unit #506 the door was unlocked, and our initial reaction was ,"Wow this unit is extremely small and very dirty and out dated." It was advertised as having a full kitchen but you would be hard pressed to actually cook a meal in this unit, It did'nt even have a garbage disposal. The carpet was very worn a filthy. The pullout bed was full of old food crumbs and wrappers. We had no sheets for the pullout bed or blankets for the master bedroom. There were no real ammenities to be had. The pool and hot tub were small and the hot tub was shut down for a # of days while we were there. The staff could offer no help to try to correct some of these issues and always deferred to Marco Island Realty, who I understand manages these units. Try getting a response from them after 4:00 PM or on a weekend! You have to carry a key with you at all times as every single door and elevator in the place is locked at all times. Doors to get in, doors to the pool, doors to the beach, doors to the workout room, doors to the Bar. We felt like we were in a prison. Also no Internet service and the TV was a 19" potable with no DVD player I think it had Beta Max, thats how old it was. Definitely will not be back.

My family just returned from a week at the Apollo Condominiums on Marco Island, FL. We stayed in unit #701. This is a 3 bedroom, 2 full bath; it is nicely decorated with a full sized washer and dryer, with 3 TVs in the unit. The balcony is large, but it is facing west and from about 3 to 7 in the afternoon it's 100 degrees out there. However, the view is WONDERFUL. This is a corner unit overlooking the beach in the front and the swimming pool on the side. I felt very safe at the condo. You have to have a key to gain entrance to the lobby whether you're coming from the parking area or the pool/beach, and to call the elevator at the lobby. There is covered parking. There is a restaurant on the ground level. We only ate there once (peel and eat shrimp, and buffalo wings). It was good. They also have a couple of pool tables and a shuffle board. As previously mentioned, the Apollo isn't new, but I didn't notice any problems. I had a slight problem with one of the stove top burners, it works fine but it can become a little lopsided. I just had to learn to make sure it was in the right position before it got hot. That's really my only complaint about the unit.

I would recommend the Snook Inn. It's on the Marco River on the north end of the island. It's got a lot of atmosphere. We went on a Thursday night and my husband had the all you can eat seafood buffet and really enjoyed it. I had 2 appetizers: conch fritters and crab cakes. Both were very good.

One last thing: we took the Capt. Ron wave runner tour of the 10,000 islands. We left the dock at about 9:10 and returned at 12:30. We saw a lot of wonderful scenery. Their website mentions seeing manatee and dolphin on this tour. On our tour we did get into a couple of groups of manatee, but none of them seemed to be very interested in us. I did see a manatee nose, but that's it. We stopped about 1/2 way through the tour at a small island for shelling. We found some really nice shells and it was a nice break. Then we went looking for dolphin. They weren't hard to find. We got into a pod of approx. 8 dolphin. They swam around us for probably 30 minutes. Our tour guide drove his wave runner kind of fast and a couple of the dolphin played in his wake. That was fun to see. Our guide also took over 100 pictures of our trip and burned them into a CD for us for $10. It was a nice souvenir. The wave runners they use are big machines with a reverse lever. It was easy to learn, even for our 17 year old who had never driven a wave runner before.

This marks the first time I have disagreed with a rating on tripadvisor. I swear by the reviews on this site and almost never book a hotel or condo without checking it out on Tripadvisor first. How the Apollo, received the #1 rating of condos on Marco Island is beyond me.

First let me say that Marco Island is very nice. The view from the balcony was amazing. That is pretty much where the good things I have to say about the Apollo Stops. The Apollo is an older building. I rented my room #810 thru VRBO.com. I will admit there is a certain "Let the Buyer Beware" when using VRBO. The unit I was in did NOT have internet access. The largest TV in the room was a 19' tabletop. Only 1 DVD player. The Dryer in the unit did NOT get hot enough. The unit could have used a little updating...Paint...New appliances...New Carpet in the Master... The window blinds in the unit were old, battered, and broken. The blinds needed to be replaced in the worst way. I know there are much nicer condos on Marco than this one. I normally frequent the condos up in the Florida Panhandle. Reference my reviews of some Panama City, Destin, Pensacola Area Condos. I am going to stop short of "Blacklisting" Marco because of my experience here. WAY,WAY, WAY OVERRATED!!!!

Just returned on May 25 from a weeks stay at the Apollo. Condos are a bit small. The balcany helped not to feel too closed in. Fantastic view - watched dolphins every morning, great sunsets. Missed having an outside grill. People were very friendly all around. Really liked Rookies (nice, homey bar with great food and even better prices) Snook Inn is just the way we remembered. Most leisurely vacation we've had in years.
Pool area very clean and water always just like bath water.

We stayed in Unit 404 over spring break and had a fun time. It was our first trip to Marco Island (we usually go to Maui) and the beaches were comparable. The Apollo has a great location right on the prime section of South Beach with beautiful sunset views. It's an older condo (1970's built) and not the most attractive on the beach, but the pool is nice and the bar/restaurant is convenient (pub grub). Unit 404 was clean and tidy, but the 1 bedrooms are tiny (Embassey Suites are bigger) with a kitchen that is nearly impossible to cook in (4 foot frig, dishwasher under sink). The rooms are good for sleeping and viewing the sunset at night, that's about it. The condo has boogie boards, towels, chairs, but only one roll of toilet paper and no paper towels or other amenities. Be advised if picking up keys from the rental agency, they have the incorrect room number on the keys.

Fun things to do in Marco:
1. Eat: We liked DaVinci (Italian), Capri Fish House (sit in the outdoor area), Cafe deMarco (yummy shrimp). All have early bird specials.
2. Walk South Beach. Stop by the Marriott and have a drink, collect shells (bring sturdy shoes as it's a shelly beach, not soft sand), boogie board and take a dip in the pool.
3. See the Alligators: Hug one and take a photo at the gas station at Hwy. 92 and 41; skip the Fanboat and see 25+ swimming around near Turner River Road.
4. Fish the Backwater: Rent a half day charter and go to 1000 Islands, where you won't see a person for miles and may see a manatee. We caught a lot of fish but none large enough to keep.
5. Boat the Inlet to Naples: Rent a boat from Rose Marina in Marco and cruise up to Naples to see how the other half live, have drinks at the Boat House or Snook Inn (don't have dinner there).
6. Stan's Music Fest on Sundays: Go to Goodland to mix with the bikers and listen to live music.
