“We keep coming back.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

We've been coming back to Marco Beach Ocean Resort for the last few years. The service standard is high, the staff is friendly, as the food top notch. It's location cannot be beat and as the island is so small it is easy to get around by bike. Great place!

The reason we have returned four times is because the resort associates are friendly, warm, caring, and will do whatever is required to insure our needs are taken care of. The resort is clean from top to bottom no matter where you are. The food and beverage is of the highest quality and service is the BEST!! This resort has a Triple A Travel rating of four diamonds and should be given a five-diamond rating, it's that good!! We have made reservations for a return this December. It is always nice to return to Marco Beach Resort our home away from home.

Thanks to everyone at the resort for another GREAT week in Marco Island !! Brian & Doreen

Ambiance, class, service, and serenity. Marco Beach Ocean Resort was one of the very first to establish on Marcos Island and is easily a benchmark for all others. First of all the backbone of any fine hotel is the service and without a doubt they are top drawer. Accommodating without being overbearing. They leave you to the business of your vacation and their business clearly being to make your vacation memorable. The one bedroom suite is spacious for two people and stocked with fluffy white towels, premium toiletries, a turndown service including chocolates, and the staff busing up the kitchen for you (including dishes - no dishwasher in the suite). Our garden view room afforded the sounds of the ocean, afternoon sun (perfect for sleeping in), and quiet nights. There is no loud music or bands, bingo, or drinking contests (aka Mexican resort style). There were plenty of families with kids, couples, solo, and business people. It seems to be the right mix of everything for everyone. Personally, I would have preferred a softer bed but essentially had no problem sleeping. The Marcos Beach offers it's guest free umbrella and beach chairs (other hotels we have paid $25 per day!). The white sandy beach is clean and a sheller's paradise. You'll want to pack some type of beach shoe or if you prefer walk in the edges of waves in the sand. The "U" shaped pool is refreshing clean and has great lunch and dinner service. The complimentary smoothie at 4 p.m. daily is a nice perk that leads into a daily happy hour with "bar bites". I'll be back! Cheers!

Room Tip: Garden view rooms are quiet with the sound of the ocean. Great for sleeping in and recharging those...

Resort is very nice but restaurant is superb. Under less than ideal circumstances, I had one of the best dining experiences ever! Food was spectacular and the service outstanding. Thanks to Ronne and Christopher for making it a truly special evening. One meal not to be missed.

I go to Marco every year for a family reunion. Sometimes it is hard for a place to continue to impress year after year but Marco Beach Ocean Resort has yet to disappoint. The staff is so friendly and accomodating to our large party and makes us feel at home. The room I got this year was a handicap room so I did not get the nice tub and that was the only thing that I was disappointed about. Either way the bathroom and room was spacious and the fact that it faces the beach is always a plus. We got to watch the most gorgeous sunset right from our balcony. The beach was very nice and the pool area was nice as always stocked with plenty of towels. The smoothies the bar staff brings around to cool us off is always a nice touch! I am still not very happy about the menu change at the bar but there were better choices from the previous year (I will forever be bitter about them taking off the portabello mushroom sandwich off the menu but I guess everyone has to get over it eventually). I can't wait to return again this year!

Room Tip: All the rooms face the ocean which is nice but the higher you are the better your view to the ocean!

The bed was so comfortable! I hate when I stay at a really nice hotel and have an ok bed. But this one was perfect and I slept so well. When you get right down to it, lots of nice hotels have the basics in common - gorgeous view, clean rooms, balconies looking straight out to sea - but if the bed is not great then the stay is only ok. I didn't feel like I was sinking into a cloud - personally I find that suffocating - the mattress was firm but not hard and the covers were soft and the pillow was the perfect shape.

I share the same opinion as the other five star reviewers on the other aspects of the hotel, by the way!

Room Tip: We had room 911 - a king suite with an unbeatable straight shot view of the ocean! The perfect room...

We recently spent 11 nights at this hotel, and I really cannot praise it highly enough. It had a lot to live up to, as last winter we spent time at La Playa in Naples and had originally wanted to go back there, but it was unavailable. However, we would now rather return to MBOR rather than Naples, because we absolutely loved it!

Our first impressions were of a grand hotel which is staffed by people who truly care whether you're having a good time, and those impressions did not change throughout our stay. The two gentlemen who parked our car and delivered it to us each time we needed it were always so friendly and helpful, and we never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for our car, even when it was busy.

The staff on the front desk were equally friendly. Robert in particular was always happy to talk to us and to give us recommendations for places to visit and restaurants at which to eat. Brian was also very friendly and helpful. The two concierges we met (Branka and Patti) were incredible, spending time making reservations for dinners out and organising trips for us. We were always greeted by name and the sevice provided by the staff absolutely made our holiday.

The room at the hotel are all suites and our first one was a one bedroomed suite with a partial gulf view, which overlooked the swimming pool. This is in no way a criticism of the hotel, but because the room comes with one king sized bed and one queen sized pull-out sofa bed in the living area, it wasn't really what we had hoped for. I was travelling with my mother and as much as we love one another, we didn't really fancy sharing a bed! I rang our holiday company as the wording on their website had been a tad misleading in relation to the sleeping arrangements, and they spoke to the hotel, who upgraded us at no cost to us to a two bed suite, which overlooked the gardens and the front of the hotel. This suite was beyond perfect, with a massive master bedroom including a huge bathroom, a good sized en-suite guest bedroom, a large living/dining area and a kitchen complete with microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. There was also a balcony with two chairs and a table, where we could eat breakfast. The one bed suite had also featured a kitchen area, but this was a little smaller and didn't have the dishwasher. It was still perfectly adequate, though. One thing the kitchen didn't have was a kettle, but within minutes of ringing down to the front desk and asking for one, it was delivered to us - again, excellent service.

We spent most days lazing on the beach, which is a short walk through the garage and along a path and a boardwalk. It's about a two minute walk from the reception area. The staff at the beach were all lovely - so friendly and happy to share a joke while they set you up for the day. You can get food and drink delivered to your lounger (beware the seagulls, though!), and they also bring around smoothies at 3.00pm each day, which was a lovely touch. There are also vats of water up at the top of the beach, so you can refill your water bottle and stay hydrated without having to go back up to your room.

We ate at the hotel a few times. Breakfasts were on the terrace overlooking the beach - sitting there and watching the dolphins in the Gulf of Mexico was a wonderful experience! Lunchtimes we enjoyed eating at the Beach Bar and Grill, and a couple of evenings we ate at Sale e Pepe. The food at all three restaurants was lovely, and although portion sizes were smaller at Sale e Pepe than at some other restaurants on Marco Island, it was more than enough to fill us up. The food was reasonably priced, as well. And if you eat at Sale e Pepe, you MUST try the chocolate mousse dessert, which was AMAZING!! We also had a few nightcaps at the bar, and enjoyed spending time chatting to both George and Ivan, both of whom were brilliant.

There are only two very small areas where the MBOR could improve, in my view. There is free WiFi, but the signal isn't particularly strong at the back of the building, which meant we needed to use our 4G at extra cost from time to time. And the loungers at the swimming pool, whilst looking very smart, really weren't as comfortable as those on the beach. We spent a few hours at the pool one afternoon, but definitely couldn't have spent the entire day there as it just wasn't quite comfortable enough for us. Other than that, the pool area was lovely. As with the beach, there are restrooms you can use, which were absolutely spotless at all times.

As I said at the outset, I really cannot praise the hotel and its staff highly enough. Everyone always went the extra mile to ensure that we were enjoying our holiday, and we were so sad to leave! We are already working out the logistics for our next visit, and would recommend the hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Ask for a high room, to ensure the best view of the Gulf and the spectacular sunsets.
