This is my 3rd time back to this hotel and it never disappoints. Near the south end of Marco Island and convenient to a cluster of restaurants, shops and unique movie theater I highly recommend this hotel.
The standard rooms have balconies large enough for a couple of chairs and small table and you can view sunsets from most of the north side rooms of the tower. The rooms still seem fresh although not recently renovated. I wish there were more towel racks for bath towels and I would reuse my towels more often. As it is the single hook on the back of the bathroom door and the short towel bars by the sinks makes it difficult to dry a towel over night.
I love the poolside dining at the Beach Club Bar and Grill - though a bit pricey the specialty drinks are yummy. If you enjoy coconut shrimp, the appetizer has 6 good sized shrimp and a light and spicy jicama salad - I enjoy this as an entree at lunch. The views from this outdoor bar and grill are of the pool and the Gulf and are a delightful respite from walking along the long stretch of beach shelling. The shelling wasn't great this trip but our trip was just after the super moon eclipse and the backside of the storm following Hurricane Joachim. That being said although windy, the sun shone every day for 90% of the time.
The staff at the resort is always helpful and courteous. Starbucks coffee is served at the morning coffee stand though I wish a Starbucks was closer - the closest is about a 10 minute drive.
I understand the common area of this hotel will be undergoing major renovations next year and the hotel will be closed to guests for the much of the summer months. The changes sound exciting and the main restaurant (though serving great food) could definitely use an update. The current pool is fine for swimming and sunning but lacks the children friendly slides and water features. I suspect the renovated version may address this issue.
If I could I would stay at the Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort multiple times a year. Self parking is available, shops, restaurants, a movie theater, ice cream and chocolate shops are just across the street. The shelling is usually great. Who could ask for more?
