My wife and I were going to celebrate our 35th anniversary in September and after getting an offer from Hilton to buy 4 nights and get the 5th night free, we decided to try the Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort as a new destination for us. We were pleased with all the hotel had to offer and we were not disappointed. We took a chance on arriving early (around 12:30) and the hotel was very gracious in accomodating us. They did not have our room quite ready yet so we went over to the beach bar and enjoyed lunch in a tropical setting. Upon finishing our lunch, our room was ready. We had opted for a gulf front suite and for those who can afford the extra money, it is well worth the investment. The room was very spacious with a large living area and large bedroom. The balcony was accessed from both the living and bedroom area's. There is a small refrigerator in the living room. Off the bedroom, there is a small (romeo/juliet type) balconey on the front of the room. ALthough you can only stand on it, it was great in the evening as with both balcony doors open, there was enough breeze that we did not need the a/c unit. The bathroom had a great shower and a sink in both the bathroom and and an area just off the bathroom. I do agree with one review that if you have to put on makeup that the lighting around the mirror is not the best but fortunately, I was not a problem for me LOL. Plenty of closet and storage space in the room and the bed and linens were very comfortable.
The hotel is right on the beach and it is just a short walk to get to the beach. The parking, unlike some other hotels in the area, is on site, not across the street. There is a $10/day parking fee but there is no resort fee charged so all things considered, it was not bad. As I have been a Hilton Honors member for many years, it always amazes me that the lesser properties (Hampton, Homewood, Embassy Suites) have no charge for wifi access and the premuim properties do. The good thing about the charge is that we were on vacation and it made us not even open our conputer and waste the money on wifi charges. The hotel was very clean and easy to get around. We did make use of the spa facility one day (we opted for the $49 package) that allowed you to use the hot tub, sauna, steam room and came with a glass of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries for two. Nice little get away while not leaving the hotel. The charge allows you access for the entire day, you come and go as you please.
The hotel is right across the street from some nice restaurants, Beebe's Ice Cream, and shopping so you can leave your car in the lot and walk across the street to enjoy the amenities. All in all, we were very impressed and pleased with the resort and the accomodations. They have concierge service, three restaurants on site, a very nice pool area and there is access to beach activities (jet skis, etc) right at the hotel beach. I would recommend this as a great place for a get away, especially the gulf front suites.
