“Nice location, expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

We stayed four three nights, using our HH points. We were pleased with the beautiful location We thought this was an expensive location with all of the add on costs, parking, umbrella rental etc. But we were aware of this going into it. Saying this I am not sure we would have spent the money out of pocket. We had a great room overlooking the pool. We had included breakfast that we only went to one day as we didn't care for the food. So we saved room for fish dinners and bought small things from Publix. It was rather chilly during our visit with rain for two days we liked being able to sit out on our balcony. We didn't have the pleasure of swimming in the pool as it was rather chilly with rain. We didn't feel like the location was overly busy which was very nice as we know it was spring break and the hotel was full. Loved being able to walk the beach everyday. I am wondering if beach access is difficult for folks not staying close to the ocean, as I only saw one access point but than again we should have explored this more. We did have a problem with our shower draining. This started the first day, we ended up calling the last night as it wouldn't drain at all even after being gone for 3 hours. Maintaince helped us out no problem. We enjoyed our first stay, we were glad we used points as it still cost us a good 600 bucks for 3 nights. We will visit marco again however, maybe in a different location. Cheers

I have been going to Marco Island for over 20 years. My father lived there for about 15 years. He used to like to stop in to the Hilton Bar and listen to the music and enjoy a "quiet" cocktail. The Marriott is the active hotel on the Island, but if you enjoy you enjoy some quiet time, the Hilton is your place. It is very nice and well done. The beach is right out front across the sea grass boardwalk. There is a Beach and pool front eatery. One of the really nice features, is that it is right across the street from the Marco Movies and many eateries and shops. The Marco Movies are famous on the island because they serve food, beer and wine at your table while you enjoy first run films. Marco is one of the only "Paridise" spots left in Florida. It is not over commercialized. It's a place where you can walk almost anywhere without any fear. I own a condo on the island. It's my choice for the best vacation for adults (not as much for the single 20 somethings).

Due to some up coming medical issues, I decided to take the wife on a mini-vacation before she has to undergo surgery. What better please than the Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort. Our check in went without a hitch. The room had a beautiful view. Our toilet overflowed at 2:00 am (not good). I guess they had some problems because I heard on the radio that three other rooms had the same problem. The water flooded the the closet which in turn got two of my wife's favorite shoes wet...but I must admit the staff was great. Maintenance took care of the "toilet issue", house keeping had our room fresh and clean in 20 minutes, and they even took her shoes and dried them. We also received complimentary buffet breakfast and several phone calls from the front desk to make sure everything was ok. I know it was a little pricey and I can say it was kind of trying with all of the problems but I would go back and recommend the place. Great staff, great location only draw back was that the buffet could use some improvement (more items a la "Hilton" of old).

Room Tip: We stay in the Junior Suite (625) and it had a nice view. Valet was great and the bell was fantastic...

I have spent 5 days in this hotel in March 2013.
Based on the many of other hotels I have seen over the years I would rate this hotel around 3 stars. Yet for some reason this hotel is rated as 4 stars.
The best part of the hotel is its proximity to the beach.
There are many bad parts including a number of things you have to pay for that would usually come free in other hotels:
-parking costs $10/day for self parking
-Internet access costs $10/day
-beach umbrellas cost $7/day
-no microwave in room, God forbid you have a cheap eating choice
The carpets all over the hotel (room and hallways) seem to need replacement as they are faded and dusty.
The in-room coffee (Lavazza) is weak and tasteless.
For what you get and the almost four hundred dollars a night I would have to say that this hotel gives the least bang for the buck among all the other hotels I have stayed in.

Nice hotel, nice beach, good size clean rooms but over priced at least for my stay.
Nice area across the street from Marco's best restaurant DaVinci.
Would recommend this hotel if you get the right rate.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors are obviously better and smaller numbered rooms are closer to beach with nice...

This appears to be an older resort hotel - one of only three hotels on all of Marco Island, I gather - that spent most of 2012 undergoing an extensive renovation that updated it to modern hotel sensibilities. The renovation is very, very well done. It is most noticeable in guest rooms, where tasteful, neutral decor is complemented by updated fixtures in the bathroom. Our room had a king bed, desk, couch with coffee table, sitting chair and ottoman, and credenza with mini-fridge and safe accompanying the drawers.

The bed apparently is something special (you can buy the mattress set in the Hilton catalog), but my wife said she was uncomfortable in it. It was fine by me.

The pool appeared to be nice, but the weather was chilly enough during our stay (2/2/-3/7) that only the guests' children were playing in it. There are plenty of chaises and a poolside bar and grill.

The beach is impressive, with chaises available for free (umbrellas for rent). LOTS of shells, so many that I'd suggest wearing aqua-socks or sandals if you want to avoid shell cuts on the feet. The sand is a touch hard by my standards, but that didn't stop kids from making sand castles.

There are two other on-site restaurants, the more moderate Paradise Cafe overlooking the water and the upscale Sandcastles. We did not try Sandcastles, but Paradise Cafe's food was as good as any other major hotel chain's.

There is a small (predictably overpriced) gift shop, exercise facilities with tennis courts and spa with sauna, steam room and outdoor hot tub in a private garden. Massages, facials, etc. are available (as is a lighter fare edition of room service), but you can purchase a spa access day by itself. We did on a cooler day and enjoyed ourselves greatly.

We were fortunate to stumble onto a couple impressive specials, both of which were advertised in or just off of the lobby. Paradise Cafe has a "sunset menu" with four entree options, salad, dessert and coffee for the same low price. The Spa had five or six different basic spa services, again for the same low price. Do NOT overlook these specials. They offer the same high quality as normal meals and services, just at a lower price.

The only major concern was the HVAC system. With the chill in SW Florida while we were there, the furnaces were blowing. Combined with what we presume to be construction dust, this caused respiratory issues while we were in the room for the back half of our week at the hotel. We raised the issue with front desk staff, and they had the room re-cleaned. It was ineffective, but we appreciated the effort. Our maid informed us that our first floor room was one of the last to be renovated, she believed in November (three to four months prior to our stay).

We stayed at the hotel through cashing in Hilton HHonors points, so I have no conception of the price/value equation. The free wi-fi to HHonors members was greatly appreciated.

It's a very nice hotel. The staff is friendly and professional, the services were fine and the ocean view was as good as it gets. The rooms were great, too, if you took the construction dust out of the equation.

Room Tip: I hear higher floors were renovated first, so one might guess that the construction dust has been cl...

This hotel looks like something from the 1970's. Very dated. We stayed in one of their oceanfront king rooms and it was not impressive. TV's were old with bad remote controls, the bathroom was cheap and lacked a nice garden tub, as a higher end hotel should have. Towels are sparse and cheap also. Service overall was pretty mediocre. I found myself on hold a lot to the front desk and concierge. We spent the day in the spa that is part of the hotel. Spa was very nice BUT extremely overpriced. The public pool was nice and so is the beachfront. The public hot tub is tiny and teaming with little kids, which are clearly prohibited from being in there. I have young children, so I'm not against kids, mind you. They just don't belong there. The surrounding hotels are much newer, nicer, and about the same price. Do not eat across the street at the restaurants (one Italian, a sports bar, a seafood, and a mexican). They are very rude at all of them and cater to the locals/snowbirds that live there. If you don't know someone, you're not getting a good table. Drive 20 minutes north to Naples and eat. The best thing about this hotel is the valet parking staff in the front. Friendly and willing to lend a hand or a pleasant compliment. The breakfast buffet is very, very good also.
