“We visit yearly and love this resort.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2011

I have been visiting this resort since 1990 and keep going back every year or so. The pool and beach attendants are very helpful. The front desk is what you expect from a Hilton - very professional and courtieous. The beach is so calming and relaxing. This resort is very family orientated. Children can borrow beach toys from the pool attendant so you do not have to travel with all those toys. We stayed in the Deluxe Jr Suite and loved it. The resturant, cafe and beach grill are excellent. We ate all our meals at the resort and did not have to move our car for anything. I have already made my plans to go back later this summer.

Hotel was pretty. Lobby and entrance are impressive. The room was nice. Hotel falls down on the finer points. The beach chairs were older, worn and very uncomfortable to sit in, but using them is free. If you're there in July wanting a beach umbrella, it'll cost you $18.00 a day. Their idea of Happy Hour is to charge the regular price for their drinks, but bring you 2 of them. So, 2 people get served 4 drinks! And, frozen Island drinks are excluded. The check in was 4 pm and check out was 11 am. We had late flight home and with some persistence were able to use the room til 1pm. Their best offer for shower and changing was the pool deck outside, public shower and the pool deck bathroom, or a halfway Spa package for $25.00 pp., which we had to take.

They probably do well as a convention/conference destination. But fall short at catering to the individual/vacation guest.

I wouldn't go back.

Room was nice, comfy bed, nice balcony. Staff was super nice, but the flies outside will dive bomb you! It's impossible to even sit by the pool because of the flies! It's like that all over the island. No issues with the hotel per se, but the restaurant at the Hilton SUCKS! GROSS FOOD! Also, nothing going on at night. I would not visit Marco again, it,s really boring. Also like other reviewers I do agree they nickel and dime you for everything!

This was our first time making it all the way down to Marco Island as it has been recommended by friends back home. We stayed at this property because of the location and rates, but were a bit disappointed as the property is a bit run down. The location at the beach is the most fantastic thing about this property. The rooms are spacious but ours had a view of trees and we were told that we could not be moved to another at this time. The pool area is ok a lot of mosquitoes and flies again. The staff is ok they did not seem to go out of their way but were not eager to please either. The fees are up there for parking, umbrellas and Internet which makes the affordable rates a bit steep.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in higher floors upon check in

We experienced excellent serivce during our stay - front desk etc all v friendly. Had a rate inc breakfast - v good choices and a screen porch with fans to eat it onn with sea views. Had great ocean / sunset views.
parking as said is $10 a day - but v easy to get to and you know before you go! The Internet is charged but the business centre - inc pc's is free and avaiaible 24hr a day - printed boarding passes etc and did emails there no trouble.
Pool drinks nothing special but not that dear so that was ok.
Beach is wonderful. Walk along it just after sunrise - 3 mins from your room to get there and amazingly warm at 7.00 am! Beautiful shells and a hot sea - even at 7 in the morning.
We'd stay again without a doubt!

Room Tip: high floor 7 or higher

I stayed at the Hilton with a friend June 20-24th. After a cancelled flight and booking a lst minute flight on a different airline we finally arrived and the front desk staff was wonderful. We had no luggage and they gave us tootbrushes, toothpaste and deodorant so we could freshen up after a hectic day of travel.
We upgraded to a deluxe ocean view room. We were on the 4th floor and had a great view of the ocean and the pool. No complaints there. Yes, the rooms are a little dated but we did not spend a lot of time in there. I will say the beds were very comfortable!
We ate at the Paradise Cafe for lunch, the food was good and the portions are huge. Drinks at the Beach club and Grill are very expensive. We paid $9 for a pina colada and $11.25 for a margarita. I would suggest going to the liquor store and buying your own and bringing that to the pool/beach. We did go for happy hour every day were it was buy one get one drinks and the bartender is wonderful.
ACross the street there are some bars and restraurants. We went to the Irish Bar for dinner one night and the food was fabulous. We went back the next 3 nights and the staff was wonderful. The last night we were there we went to the Sunset Grill. I would highly recommend it! The view was great, the food was amazing and the drinks are way cheaper!!
We did do the Calusa Dolphin tour which was great. We saw lots of dolphins (no manatees though) and the island they take you shelling on is very nice. We also went to Tigertail Beach and did a tour of the Everglades (did not see any alligators on the tour but saw a huge one off on the side of the road)
Over all we both loved Marco Island and the Hilton and would return again.

This is 3rd time to stay at this Hilton. Each time was for family vacation.

We were upgraded to Ocean View room on high floor using NOR1 upgrade ($19/day upgrade fee). View was very nice for the ocean and 4th fireworks.

Location is fantastic and the beach is nice and very swimmable. Pool is so-so --- large and not crowded but nothing fancy that are common at newer resorts. Beach towels were plentiful at all hours of the day (a big plus!).

Service is the biggest complaint. One day, it came a rain storm and everyone returned to their rooms. For the next hour, there was such little water pressure in the building that the tubs/showers could not get enough pressure to activate the shower. Finally after 3 calls to the desk did the manager on duty get involved. Then, they were still slow to send up a service person to check the tub (it was broken). As a Diamond member, I expect better service and non-working shower is frustrating when coming in from the beach.

We asked a few questions to the concierge. Unlike most hotels where the concierge is eager to help with bookings, etc, the lady working this hotel was more interested to hand-out brochures than taking care of bookings. We didn't press the point with her but she didn't give the sense of wanting to help.

Valet parking service was good but about 40% of the total parking is for valet and it puts a real limit on trying to find self parking slots, especially on the weekend when hotel has higher occupancy rate.

The room sizes are generous but furnishings are showing their age. Several of the drawers on the dresser in our room had missing parts to the pulls. The light fixtures in the bathroom were heavily tarnished due to excessive humidity build-up and poor working bathroom fan.

Overall, Marco is a great place for family vacation. And, this hotel is in a good location. However, the owner needs to spend some money to upgrade the rooms. And, the management needs to take more serious their level of service and prioritize/recognize Diamond and Gold members more.

Room Tip: Ask for room on 9th or 10th floor facing ocean for best view. Floors 2-4 are blocked by trees.
