I recently attended a corporate function at Antonio's La Fiamma. The parking was very congested, so I took advantage of the complimentary valet parking. It has been more than10 years since I have been to Antonio's so I was a little confused with where the entry was located.
I was glad I entered through the deli and cafe, so I could peruse the mouthwatering delicacies available. The place was absolutely packed, for a Wednesday evening, so I was relieved to learn we were dining upstairs.
A glass of "Super Tuscan" at the bar made the wait for a table quite enjoyable, but as our party began to swell, the bar got a little cramped. The wine was not unlike a California Meritage, with a bit more fruit and a little drier... very good; in fact I ordered a second glass with dinner.
The arugula salad was superb, the rotisserie lamb was outstanding -- bacon-wrapped slices of lamb shank, stuffed with sausage, garlic and herbs -- WOW! Decaf cappuccino finished the meal, with a flourish.
Service was impeccable, with all 10 of us served at the same time, by a coterie of waiters. Our server was well-informed and helpful and did not hesitate to make recommendations.
This is the place for an informal lunch, in the deli; a special occasion, upstairs; or a special treat to take home. Prego!
